Lian Li Unleashes Hell on the PC Market with the PC-D666

Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd, today unleashes a hellish beast onto the enthusiast PC market with the dual system PC-D666 double wide brushed aluminum chassis. With a red and black aesthetic to match the number of the beast name, the PC-D666 supports a full EATX/ATX "workhorse" system on one side of the chassis, and a Micro-ATX/Mini-ITX "gaming" system in the other.

Separating the two systems into two compartments, the PC-D666 allows DIY enthusiasts to show off high end and intricate setups through oversized windows on both sides of the chassis. The latest high-end hardware is supported in the PC-D666 as well as extensive watercooling setups.
Extensive Water Cooling Support
With tons of room to work with, installing elaborate water cooling setups is simplified in the PC-D666. Thick 480mm and 360mm radiators can be easily installed on the "workhorse" side of the chassis, while another 360mm radiator can be installed in the "gaming" system compartment.

100mm of space above the motherboard tray allows the CPU cooler, cables, or radiator to be effortlessly moved between the compartments.

Hot-Swappable Storage
The six 3.5" bays in the two removable HDD cages feature hot-swap backplanes for convenient storage installation. Four 2.5" drives can also be mounted in the two hard drive cages. In the "workhorse" compartment two more 2.5" drives can be tool-lessly mounted on the case floor.

Tool-Less Installations and Features
The PC-D666 has many tool-less features allowing for simple setups and installations.. This fully aluminum case features pop-off side panels and front bezel, tool-less mounting for hard drives as well as clip-in dust filters.

The entire HDD rack on the right side of the case can be pulled out of the case with the removal of a few thumbscrews.

Versatile Cable Management
With oversized windows on both sides of the chassis, thumb-screw secured removable panels were engineered to easily hide the cables and wires, while still providing easy access to both sides of the chassis thanks to large grommeted cutouts.

Connectivity
Both sides of the chassis have four USB 3.0 ports and HD audio connections on the top of the chassis for their respective systems.

Developed in Cooperation with PC Welt
The PC- D666 was developed in cooperation with IDG's PC Welt (PC World) German edition for the "Hell Machine 6" ultimate dual-system PC project.

So you can have a nas system with 11 bays and a gaming workstation all in a single chassis. MSRP 599. Well.. its Lian Li, I'm not suprised.

looks nice
oh wait..
the space between tray is tight, so grommets is kinda useless since you cant put the cables behind tray

I own the PC-D600 and find this case to be quite disappointing, rather than fixing any of the flaws of the PC-D600 like the terrible cable management space and useless grommits mentioned earlier, then just added a ton of new unneeded features. The PC-D600 was already pretty niche and you can probably count on two hands the number of people in north america who own one, this thing is gonna be super rare and i cant imagine how few people are going to be suited for this.

Nice to see a modern ATX+mITX chassis. Puts my old Thermaltake Mozart Tx to shame. Of course, there is no place for the pop-up LCD that you could get for the Mozart Tx, but that's okay I guess.

Wow there's a market for something like this... really?

While I still like a fair amount of your designs, Lian-Li you need to find a way to pull out of 90's. I have to say micropage7 articulated it the best.

You could put a massive custom rad on the ITX side I think. That would be cool. (Pun intended)

To change CPU cooler of one motherboard, you'll have to uninstall two motherboards.

^the comment I was waiting for.

I'd still buy a mountainmods case over this and what i find a real shame all so with this case is that they should of made it possible to mount PSU at the top of the case.

I just bought another double-decker from Lian Li, the PC-D8000 . It has much better looking front plate, but it has cards slots in the back only for a single system. Still if somebody is planning system with lots of graphics card and dual power supply this is suitable box.

His/her desktop though I'd still go with an Azza 4000 over this.

Slightly crazy setup to say the least.

I understand the premise, but implementation is not good. If anyone is interested in something like this then Mountain Mods Duality option is better. Most important feature is modularity. Can rotate components as you see fit. With Lian-Li 666 case you can't and between board trays there is no cooling of any kind.

If Lian Li wanted to make something different, I would welcome a cubed rig like this that accommodates a full EATX with 24-25 3.5'' hot-swap drive bays.

This would have been amazing if it had 140mm fans covering the front.

But what the hell is this monstrosity? I can literally buy a car for that money.

Such a shame. NAS systems are begging for such a case.

Holy ball sack batman.

edit: full eatx/atx on one side and matx on the other? Naw, that won't do.

Cool, though not for me as I haven't personally run an eATX board in a long time, since the Athlon MP and hyper-threaded Xeon days. I was all into cases like the Cal PC Super Server and the handful of other multi-system cases.

After multi-core chips became available I pretty much stuck to ATX/mATX, but who knows, maybe I'll win the lottery and deck out a dual Xeon in the Lian-Li PC-D666 for the hell of it.

look harder

Is it not a bit stupid to have MB tray cutouts when there is going to be a MB on the other side blocking it?

I've never really seen a good explanation for how they stay afloat when their design team is so clueless. Do they do well in their native country? Sometimes they have an acceptable mini-itx that's really overpriced but that can't be enough to keep them going.
