Gears of War 4 is on the Windows Store? If so I will definitely wait until I see some performance reviews, because so far Windows 10 store UWP games have been plagued with terrible stuttering and performance issues.
For example Quantum Break had horrible performance issues on the Win 10 store and even to this day still has issues, but the steam version just got released and has none of the performance issues the Win 10 Store version does.

Same problem with Mafia III it seems, these so called next gen console peasants are dragging us down to 30fps locks and a world of dodgy ports.

Of course, but I'm merely paraphrasing all the wankers who think we should wait for the "future".

There is something new: UWP performance penalties to tack on to that already wonderful world of 30fps locked, dodgy ports....

Read up on it some more, apparently only the review copies are 30fps limited. SUPPOSEDLY the release version will allow at least 60fps. Won't know for sure however until the game releases.

A message to our PC players
10/6/2016
We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are. The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates. We’ll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon. In the meantime, the team welcomes feedback and would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you. We’re actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game’s experience to suit their rig’s performance. It’s been an incredible journey developing Mafia III and we couldn’t be more excited to get the game in your hands and hear what you think!

In Slizzo's defence, he did shout at me "SUPPOSEDLY", but I won't read up on it more, I'll just ignore it and wait for them to sort their shit out instead.

why does a solid 30 frames per second not enthuse me.

gamegpu.ru, wccftech, pcgh, compubase and gamersnexus already made some initial tests of the game, with some tiled resources and async compute enabled disabled tests

Seems like good performance if true.

Async obviously doesn't function in game lol (numbers don't add up, especially since Nv has fuck all ).

So Muffia III is currently locked at 30fps...
I will buy it when they unlock it to at least 60fps. Plenty other games to play until then...

Hopefully there'll be a fix for the issue with the Fallout games at some point - the recent Nvidia drivers have rendered F:NV unplayable...

I guess they figured people didn't like 30fps

"
We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!

broken pixelTeam would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you.
Ugh, this is such a bullshit, what performance adjustment options are important to us?
Well, how about those adjustments that give tangible fps boost with minimal loss of image quality?
Maybe they want us to teach them which are those:
  • Draw distance
  • LOD distances
  • Shadow draw distance
  • Shadow resolution
  • Shadow filtering type
  • Different AA modes
  • Different SSAO alghorhitms
  • Vsync or frame limiter
  • Reflection texture resolution and frequency of update
  • Global illumination quality level (number of bounces, sampling radius and number of samples)
  • and so on ...
When you see them asking "what performance adjustment options are important to you", you gotta wonder if they even know what are they doing.
Consequently, I fear they will put only useless settings that are controllable on the driver level (anisotropic filtering and vsync) ... and I hope I'm wrong

I believe this is due to Windows 10 Anniversary Update having a new WDDM and nVidia's newer drivers being required to adhere to it. It's more a Microsoft/Bethesda issue than nVidia. If you roll back to a pre-Anniversary Update driver (if it will work for you) then the games should start working again.

So Beth's games from prior to W10 Anniversary may no longer work?
