NVIDIA still has a lot of work to do with DirectX10 driver for G80

G80 owners worldwide are probably wondering why they do not have even a beta driver for their high-end expensive graphics card. The reason is very simple: the driver is not stable. Games that are stable on any other video card using any other driver are great on Windows Vista. However, once the G80 was plugged in with the current driver, the test system was prone to frequent and unpredictable reboots. With Windows Vista launching in a matter of days, we sure hope NVIDIA can make a stable driver for the launch of Microsoft's brand new operating system.

No surprise here. Besides, what vista only games that take advantages of DX10 are available at this point? I haven't seen any surface yet.

Its not just a matter of DX10, there is no Vista driver at all for 8800 cards yet, so no 3d acceleration beyond the Microsoft-provided driver, meaning no DX9L gaming.

There are Vista drivers for the 8800 series cards.

The feature set in the actual control panel is a little lacking, but it does allow 3D acceleration and DX9 gaming on Vista.

um this is news?

all those people who rushed out and spend way to much on 8800cards and who have their vista preordered or their vista vouchers are gonna be so pissed when they get it and still dont have drivers.

i never jump on the new kid on the block anymore, and i never jump on bleading edge hardware for something thats not even avalable for testing yet(vista dx10)

honestly i laugh at my friends who rushed out and got their 8800gt* cards and are now bitching to me about nvidia driver support sucking for the card.

and this KILLS the speculation that crysis was being tested in dx10 on 8800 cards :D

While DX10 isnt fully out yet in games....this is still a big deal considering Nvidia hasnt gotten their act together on drivers. Of course, in their defense, Vista is a big major mess <G>

that was my point, its the FX line allover again, a card thats being sold for something that currently dosnt excist and cant be tested, so you never know how well its going to perform at the job its being sold for.

remmber the 5800/5900 being used in all those dream machiens back in the day?

remmber not long later every one of those mags and sites recanting and saying they should have gone with the 9800xt because it acctualy supported dx9?

same deal here, people are buying a card for dx10 support, but no clue how its going to do in dx10, no clue if nvidias drivers are going to work in dx10 properly or if it will be another fx line where they have to comprimise quility and fetures to try and get speed and stability up.

its not ms's fault nvidia dosnt have a working test driver out!!!!

i hate vista mind you, but if your going to sell a card for dx10 you HAVE TO SUPPORT VISTA FULLY!!!!

all these people rushing to get 8800cards because "they support dx10" are IMHO fools, sure its a good dx9 card, but thats not why they choose it, they got it because its a dx10 card!!!!

honest to god i will NEVER again be the "fool who rushed in" like i was with my 5800ultra!!!
