Newegg Canada Inadvertently Shows Z390 Motherboard Pricing

The leak train for Intel's latest and greatest mainstream CPU platform is showing no signs of stopping before hitting the final stop when Intel formalizes it officially. Yesterday, we had MSI do a long preview video with everything but the Z390 branding visible, and today we got word of Newegg Canada deciding it could do better. Indeed, searching for "Z390" on their website shows up, at the time of this post, 15 Z390 motherboards from MSI and Gigabyte alike.

Noting that these are in Canadian dollars, the respective Z370 offerings from the same website are priced 30-40% lower at this time where applicable courtesy of some sales but also a direct MSRP-to-MSRP comparison. Keep in mind also that the features may not be identical, and that may contribute also to the pricing strategy we see employed here. These do not look to be placeholders either, given the precision down to two decimal points, but we will have to wait for USD prices to know if this is price gouging from a retailer or a blanket increase worldwide. In anticipation of these links being taken down sooner than later, we just saved a web archive of the page that can be seen here.

$800 for the MSI Meg board? What are they smoking? This isn't LGA 2066 or 3647.

There's something very funny about why the GB's Pro is better than master. More, in a few days.

I have a feeling that some of those prices will come down a bit.

Based on what the distribution costs are... looks like they're charging a bit more margin than usual.

It should be $199ish CAD, not $221.

for the MSI Z390 Gaming Plus (Z390GAMINGP)

Which would still be a $28 uplift over the Z370... but still reasonable if you want the new chipset... maybe?

Btw MSI Godlike translates to 577€ based on this but this could be just canadian prices. Hopefully EU prices will be in 4xx€ range.

$1.00 US = $1.30 Canadian...and Canadian prices have always exceeded that number. However those in US can expect to pay almost the the same as the 30% tariff come January will essentially erase the exchange rate difference.

It is not required, but is officially supported by the chipset. It is like SATA ports and total USB ports; for example, not all Z370 motherboards have 6 SATA ports, and not all Z370 motherboards have 14 USB ports. While it is the max that is supported, motherboard vendors usually do not max out their motherboards because it increases cost, and you would not have any low budget options available.

You think socket P will be just 800 Canadian dollars, at launch?
