Destiny 2 Free to Grab Over Battle.net Client Until November 18th

For everyone that doesn't already own 'Destiny 2, here's a quick quality-of-life announcement: the base Destiny 2 game is up for grabs, for free, over at Battle.net's client. The game, developed by Bungie and published on the PC in partnership with Activision Blizzard, has recently seen the launch of one of the more enriching expansions yet - Forsaken - and has just received a much-needed overhaul to some nagging design decisions, so it's at its best version yet.

Of course, this free offer serves to bring non-Destiny 2 players to the fold - the idea is that if you like the game, you'll purchase its Forsaken expansion (which includes the previous two expansions for the game, Curse of Osiris and Warmind). You have really nothing to lose here, after all, so I'd suggest you take the game for a spin.

Already got it from the gaming thread - Got it installed and it's pretty decent.

Hard. Pass.

Worst type of game to be supporting even with a player count even if it costs nothing. Its been a big fat lie from the get-go. 10 year project, persistence, nothing is left of it. Spoonfed, meagre content in a grind mill with MTX over your ears for meaningless progression.

Please let it die.

Which is the case in most games, how many titles out there aren't a grind till your bored? And the ones that aren't don't tend to have excellent replay-ability either.

That sounds like half life 2, and that's not bad..
It's all in production values and how the game Is presented, and how much do you get sucked in to the plot

Its true. If you like the grind game, all is well in the world. But Destiny doesn't do it too well IMO. Part 2 didn't change that reality... But this is also a clear case of really bad business ethics. It would have been a very different game if they actually expanded the game, instead they gave it a reset and made the grind truly meaningless. Part 2 = start over.

Compare it to Borderlands, for example.

Play it (D2) a bit longer and you'll see ;) It starts well...

Well I don't have high expectations - it's free and it'll remain free since I'm not spending a penny on this, if it lasts a few days it's fair enough.

Level 20 cap and you need to pay for the expansions. Nice joke Activision/Blizzard, almost as good as Diablo Immortal.

I don't even want it for free. I guess the player count kept falling so they had to make this giveaway to get more players.

From the time I have noticed it was for free to the time this thread was posted, I had already completed the story and reached level 20 and then played a bit more, there is so little content in this game and the only thing left for me to do is to grind, this is for a couple of days of solo gameplay.

Unless you bought the expansions, there is really nothing left for you to do. You can only grind so far off level 20...

I play both Destiny 2 and The Division, both have the grinding nature and are branded as disappointing games. Surprisingly Division is more fun and have more things to do after end-game, without the need of DLCs.

It is quite fascinating that people hate free shit. Play this as single player RPG FPS, do not buy expansions. Why is that a problem?

So i should LOVE it because it's free?

The game is so bland and uninstresting to me. I doubt i would even last an hour. I've seen some gameplay videos of it and the world, the characters and everything about it leaves me completely cold.

Plus i'm not one of those people who grabs every free game that is given. I only take those that i might actually play. My Steam library (and Origin) is <10 games.

Destiny is a game you play with friends. It is not a game you want to play alone. I played the launch of Destiny 2 and we had an absolute blast. While the primary quest line wasn't long. It was fun. For me, end game was lacking at the time, but we also rushed through the game. And then got left with nothing to do until the next expansion. This happens with every single game out there. Eventually, you do what you wanted...and then you move on until new content comes out. Or don't. The choice is yours. This game has its flaws just like every other game out there. If a person makes something then that item has flaws, because humans aren't perfect. That goes with the territory. But there is beauty in that imperfection and also knowledge to learn and build from. What does complaining over a free game solve? Not a damn thing. The game is free for those that never owned it or want it on PC. Congrats to those people. Let us bask in our first world problems....lol
