Independent, private game publisher - Gamecock - takes shape
Gamecock, a privately financed video game publishing company aims to foster creativity in the generally, creatively stale entertainment sector that is video games.
Analogous to an independent movie studio, Gamecock offers to allow developers to retain rights to their intellectual property while providing a means for developers to have their game available to be bought. Gamecock claims the royalties paid to the developers will be the highest available.
In return for creative freedom, developers will share the risk of the business venture.
Gamecock will attempt to stay away from the pitfalls of being a publically traded company:

Gamecock will attempt to stay away from the pitfalls of being a publically traded company:
"Most of the big publishers are publicly held, and Wall Street wants you to own trucks and have a floor of accountants and grow by a certain amount every year," Mr. Wilson said. He said he hoped to foster an artist-friendly environment in which the name of the developer, not the publisher, was identified with a game.Article printed in the New York Times, Monday February 12, 2007 page C8 as well.
