Windows Defender Fails Malware Test
Microsoft's very own antivirus software, Windows Live OneCare, was recently found to be failing Vista users, and now the same has been discovered for its free anti-spyware application. In tests carried out by Australian company Enex Testlab, Windows Defender struggled to detect just half of the malware which it was tested with, with the quick scan finding missing most of the malware and the full scan finding only 53.3%. It would be best to note that the test was financed by competing company PC Tools, which claims the test was unbiased, although the winning software (detecting 88.7% of malware) was PC Tools' very own Spyware Doctor. Windows Defender was released as a final version in October 2006, so it is relatively new and of course (being free) costs less than Spyware Doctor.

vlc is DA BOMB for video playback, the ONLY other program i keep around for that is Windvd7(8 is still buggy as hell and to large) vlc dvd playback just isnt quite as good imho, but its better then powerdvd ;)
for an audio player theres only 1 choice IMHO, TCMP(the core media player) with the bluedragon skin, it can use winamp plugins, dshow plugins, its own build in codecs and plugins, great fetures and its EASY TO USE(think winamp 2.9 without any aol connections)
also its free, you can donate and get dvd playback support(why bother?)
i may have to make a list of apps i use alot and post it :)
OH apk and anybody who converts or rips music alot, try DBPOWERAMP (google it) its by far the best converter you will find, use the forums beta section to get the latest vorbis(ogg) codecs and other new codecs that arent "gold" yet (they are 100% stable just still under testing)
later i need to eat :D
Right now, it appears NOD32 does better on binary type virus detections, whereas Norton does better on doing Macro Virus detections from tests I have seen.
BOTH do the job & rate well in tests, as well as my own use of them - GOOD STUFF! Yea, so far? It's good stuff - it's MOST 'redeeming feature' is the fact it loads its OWN codecs, no 3rd party ones required. I'll download that & use it, if I ever do any of that... usually, I don't though! You go for it... I just finished lunch, & feel MUCH better for it!
