ATI Catalyst 7.2

AMD/ATI has released its latest version of the Catalyst drivers, which are used by the Radeon 9500 series and higher. There are 32-bit and 64-bit releases for both Windows XP and Windows Vista, and it is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version to solve any potential problems you may experience. You can download the drivers here. Please note that all versions of Windows require you to download a different driver.

There has been a focus on improving the Catalyst Control Center, with the following results:
  • Significant performance gains; Catalyst Control Center start-up time has been substantially reduced, and overall responsiveness has improved.
  • Reduced system resource usage
  • New 3D preview which significantly improves the ability for users to understand the benefits of enabling the many Catalyst features of their ATI Radeon graphics accelerator
  • Increased stability
  • Native 32 and 64-bit support
For other performance enhancements and resolved issues you can view the release notes on ATI/AMD's site - there are lists for Vista and XP.

I'll just answer myself. Yes, it's a part of CCC.

technicksThe drivers from last year work for me to, but since 7.1 i get a flickering screen when using it.

Imo i think it's time for Ati Tool 0.27 ( Vista ready:D ). We X1950 pro users need it.;)
Well I guess you need a clean install 7.1, since my X1950Pro works with Overdrive.

The first time I install 7.2 was a mess.
Well, now everything is up and running fine.
Um.. Anyone notice that the ATi flag no longer moves...?
The one in video setting.

Man I had to chunk the 7.2s because they looked like crap in BF2142 compared to the Warcat 7.1s. I'm just going to wait for the Warcat 7.2s to come out. I was kinda hoping that some of the texture flickering would go away, but I didn't use it long enough to tell. I get that when I look at objects far in the distance, the texture will flicker black when in motion.

Welp, I have some personal good news with the new 7.2s...

I just reinstalled DOOM 3 to try out under Vista (I don't game all that often) and boy does it look great! The 7.2s coupled with ATITool 0.26 allow me to run DOOM 3 relatively smoothly @ 1280x1024 / HIGH SETTINGS / NO SHADOWS / 0x AA / 8x AF with my X1300XT OC!

I've never seen the picture look so good before! Everything was vivid and crisp and beautifuly detailed. My old X1800GTO didn't look this good back when I was using Media Center 2005 + Cats 6.4

Definitely a happy camper atm. Now I just need a better video card for Rainbow 6 : Vegas! :o

the new drivers a good bit smaller then the old one, nice work.

and if q4 is faster doom3,prey and the like should be faster as well, amd was pusing hard to fix the OGL issues in the drivers, seems like it happened :D

even my poor 56k can deal with <10mb download for driver updates :D

But the shadows in BF2142 still looks like crap.:respect:
But at lease I get some extra memory from the new CCC.:D

It is interesting that now AMD officially use CCC for Catalyst Control Center.
