PC game Crysis now available for pre-ordering on Newegg

One of the most legendary online hardware stores, Newegg, again shows that they can offer the latest products for the lowest prices. Unfortunately, it seems they are only fulfilling the "latest product" part this time. Newegg is now accepting orders for the legendary EA shooter Crysis. The game costs $57.99, plus $4.99 3-day business shipping. It is listed as a Rating-Pending game, with no word as to when it will ship. Crysis, using the CryENGINE 2, will be the first DirectX10 game...let's hope it's a good one.

Since wine doesn't fully work with DX9, and I'm sure Microsoft will go to great pains to make sure wine won't work with DX10, I doubt there will be any DX10 support until DX11 or DX12 is out. I'm just being pessimistic though.

Haha wine working with DX10. No probably not for many years.

I didn't know you could preorder things on Newegg, I should look into that more often.

there probably will be a DX9, DX8, maybe even DX7 version, kind of like how Half-life 2 can run on anything but just look shitty... but maybe not :p

dx9 will play dx10 games, but with reduced shaders and features if we play w/ a dx10 card on xp, so no fear xp is still here ;)

Huh? Everything I have read says DX10 games will be playable on XP with DX9. Like mentioned earlier, like with HL2, for example.

I bought Vista HP. It is nice, it is purdy. I would not recommend to someone to go buy Vista at this time though. There are Vista drivers for all my schit, but XP is still more then capable for everything out there at this time.

When Crysis and Stalker, and other DX10 games become available, well then Vista will be the must have for gamers that don't want to settle for less then cutting edge graphics.

I don't think I would preorder Crysis as I am sure it will be had at BB or CC a week or so after launch for $10-$30 cheaper on sale, as history has shown us.

DX10, if it is anything like the screens I have seen of it, I can hardly wait. :D

not all DX10 games will have a DX9 render path, if it did then the industry would never move forward :(. It is actually a shame that Crytek didn't have DX10 from the beginning, it would look even better than it does now.
