UK Game Developers add in-game Lockdown Messages

A consortium of UK game development studios have partnered with the UK government to promote safe Coronavirus lockdown measures. Activision Blizzard, Codemasters and Rebellion will work with the UK Government to feature messaging from Public Health England's 'Stay Home Save Lives' campaign in their games.

The first of these additions can be seen in Dirt Rally 2.0 where the 'Stay Home Save Lives' message is featured prominently on the in-game banners at the start of the track. The government hopes that by placing these ads, young people will follow the lockdown instructions.

I think having the resources to actually police lockdowns would send a stronger message to the idiots who flout the rules.

Im sick of constantly being spammed in emails and text messages about not going out, not travelling unnecessarily and maintaining social distancing.

If there were more police doing some hardcore enforcing. People would be too scared to go out.

I passed a park full of people chilling and playing football the other day. I also saw the two motorcycle cops and a meat wagon just casually rolling through and leaving the park.

I think it's got to a point where if there's too many people to slap with fines. They just don't bother.

Having more spam in games won't solve the problem with idiots who wouldn't even listen when the PM said stay the fuck indoors.

::EDIT::

I mean, if you live rural going outdoors isn't a problem. I do it regularly. Great way to escape this.

But... that's not really what's going on here, I know.

Couldn't have said it better myself, really. Perhaps Bronn was right. There really is no cure for being a c%nt . All this medical technology, all these advancements in medicine...yet we still haven't found a cure for stupid

"Natural Selection" will deal with those......

And the alien conspiracy community wonders why they won't just land the ships already.
They probrably think the virus is linked to a form of dumbass virus many seem to have now - It would infect their race and they'd all become dumbasses too. :slap:

"Stay Inside" would apply to the ship in this case.
And don't get them started with quarrantine measures - Or just disinfecting the planet.
We'd all be screwed. o_O

No way I can think of these in-game messages are being taken seriously, more like they'd think all these in a game is something of a joke to laugh at or an annoyance.
I mean seriously......

Hopefully one day we'll look back on 2020 and "Social Distancing" like we do now about the year 2000 and Y2K.

Sure.. Because one thing that young people love doing is following governmental instructions.. -_- how about all the m0r0ns in governmental positions try to do a better job preparing for situations like the one we are in BEFORE we have to go through it. It's the third cov incident in 20 years ffs and noone gave a flying duck to store spare masks or create a vaccine for the previous versions which would make creating a vaccine for this version easier. These people have no connection to reality and we are paying the price.

Plus if they're playing games they're overwhelmingly indoors anyways. Preaching to the choir a bit. A billboard outside is more likely to reach the target audience.

I watch the retards at my local stores walk around with their latex gloves on as they touch everything.....then they go to the self check out and they proceed to touch all the other surfaces around them as they're slowly checking their self out. Then they dig through their purse and finger their wallet and their car keys and their phone....then they put their wallets and phones back in their pants or purse and walk out like they're impervious to germs just because they're wearing gloves. They just had their hands all over everything, then went about touching some of the most used items on their person (phone/wallet/purse/keys).....hello? Your gloves do not instant kill any germs/virus/bacteria. Now you've just spread everything you're trying to protect yourself from all over your personal belongings that you're going to be touching again within minutes of leaving the store.

Then I watch the retards that wear masks. They walk around constantly touching the mask after they've been touching everything else.....then when they go to talk to people they pull the damn mask down from around their face! WTF?

And if you actually question some of these people about their actions, they literally do not understand what they've done. They honestly, swear to god, think they're protecting their selves because they're wearing gloves and a mask.

Then I see news stories that claim X amount of people died from COVID-19 today!
Seriously - does no one question these figures?
How many of those people really died from just the COVID-19 virus? How many actually died from other things such as: car accident, cancer, stroke, brain aneurysm, OD, old age, homicide, suicide, etc?
I can follow maps of the States in the US - they list "deaths" of the COVID-19 virus by state. But,....do I take it as truth because they say so? They haven't listed any of the deceased's underlying conditions such as: old age, under going cancer therapy, chronic respiratory problems and so on unless you can find an actual story about a specific person.....they don't even tell you if the person that died had a clean bill of health. Then on top of it, no state lists daily deaths from other causes such as: car accident, cancer, stroke, brain aneurysm, OD, old age, homicide, suicide, etc....
So the rest of the population is never being told the hole story, we're only being told what they want us to hear and see.....because it helps sell or helps get clicks or helps boost TV ratings.

I'm not saying folks shouldn't be wary about the virus and I'm not saying the virus doesn't kill, but folks that blindly believe everything being thrown at them from the media and social media.....I'm not sure what's worse; the virus or those stupid people.

I'm curious if you even know what a "Cov incident" is.

Cov is literally the family for the common cold. (CO for Corona, VI for Virus, D for disease). There's like a million variants every year, not "three in 20."

This one just happened to be particularly nasty.

I'm pretty sure everyone of them considering how hard it is to get a postitive diagnosis in the first place, and how closely they like to watch you afterwards. There is almost certainly a medical expert examining them when they die.

...

So much conspiracy, so little truth. As usual.

That was my first thought.

What is next... cell phone companies sending you a text saying 'don't wreck our 5G towers'?

Oh wait, this was the same UK that had a little press about parents thinking Linux was like heroin, right? ... nutjobs

In France it's pretty simple : if they catch you, it's a 135€ fine. If you try to fuck with them, it goes to 375€. Some may even be sued for endangering life of a tier.
End of story.
Minimum wage in France is about 1k/month and average is 2.5k, high salaries are around 5k/month. If you remove your loan or your rent + taxes, it easily goes down below 700€ left per month for all the rest for many people, and 300 for minimum or less.

Since police doesn't have much thing to do actually (less crimes/violence outdoor/etc.), there's a lot of them, and in 1 week, they already fined 500k people.
There's now much less people outdoors.

French people (I'm french) are all but disciplined, but at least the law goes against us for that, where in many countries, you can do whatever you want since you're not hurting somebody.
In comparison, in Ireland, the PM just said "Stay home, even on Saint-Patrick's day". They all did, and they still do. Nobody in parks, safe distance, no crowd in supermarkets, etc.

UK's case is particular because they were told the opposite at start.

Nah - The police force has been run into the ground by budget cuts by the previous two governments. Many police have left but that hasnt deterred or stopped the government from making new laws.

I see more police shaking down local businesses for having too many people inside then 4 or 6 of them walking in and hand out fines to 200+ people socialising in the park. Its just straight up easier for them to shake down business then chase people down because they dont have the time for it - they are needed elsewhere.

The park i pass by constantly during my exercise is 110 acres - The two motorcycle cops and a meat wagon comment i made earlier was in regard to these 4 or 6 cops not even bothering to attempt it because there are far too many people or too big of an area to cover.

Dealing with businesses is easier. only a handful of them are open. and even if the staff run away. the business is still going to be there rooted to the same spot.
