Patriot Memory Unveils Extreme Performance PC2-6400 4GB Kits
After OCZ, Kingston and Mushkin, Patriot is the next big memory manufaturer to officially introduce their Extreme Performance DDR2-800 4GB EPP Ready(PDC24G6400ELK) dual channel kits. The new 800MHz modules offer the ultimate solution for PC enthusiasts and gamers upgrading to the demanding Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. Each Patriot Extreme Performance PC2-6400 2GB module is equipped with bladed aluminum heat spreader and runs 5-5-5-12 latency timings at 2.0V. 2. I wouldn't buy anything called "Patriot"... it just sounds so American (no offence).
Regardless, 5-5-5 timings are not extreme performance. Not even really "good", its just par. I'm sure these are designed for a voltage bump and will run 940+ Mhz like everything else does.
I just love how my RAM is rated for PC4200 at 3-4-4-8 timings...but itll do PC4800+ at 2.5-3-3-7. By the way...its labeled as PC3200.
We saw that going from 512mb to 1GB and now from 1GB to 2GB sticks.
The timings will not be as tight bc they cant be.
Its just the rule of thumb.
