John McAfee Found Dead in Jail Cell

Most of TechPowerUp's regulars surely remember the contentious John McAfee - best known for the launch of the McAfee antivirus software, which still is one of the most common OEM-installed antivirus services today (and which is now owned by Intel). After numerous close encounters with law enforcement and some actual escapes from the clutches of the law, John McAfee was eventually captured and was being held in a Barcelona prison, under the Catalan Department of Justice. There was a pending extradition request to the U.S. on account of accusations on tax evasion and cryptocurrency fraud.

That extradition request was signed yesterday morning, and John McAfee was found dead in his prison cell later in the day. His death is being reported as a suicide - and the Internet is already busy poring through his tweets, where he affirmed numerous times that he would never be looking to commit suicide. John McAfee had millions of dollars in outstanding judgments that he never paid, and a 2016 documentary by showtime, "Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee", was a piece of investigative journalism that looked into purported crimes committed, aided or abetted by John McAfee, including the murder of his neighbor Greg Faull in Belize, the torture and attempted murder of another Belizean, David Middleton, and the alleged drugging and rape of one of his former business partners, Allison Adonizio.

Damn. Can't believe they murdered McAfee.
Someone told me he got a tattoo a few days earlier saying he didn't kill himself.

How do people think they can get away with not reporting millions of dollars in profit and not pay taxes on it and not end up in prison?

McAfee is no longer owned by Intel. It was spun into a joint venture or something years ago.

It was in 2019, but yes, the #WHACKD thing and also his other various tweets where he says if he commits suicide then he was "Epstein'd" and that he wouldn't ever commit suicide.
So yeah, either his stance changed in 2 years or he got killed and it's another Epstein situation. Could be as a result of the "31TB of hacked CIA documents" he supposedly stole and said he would release upon death, but nothing about that so far...

I suggest refraining from spreading conspiracy theories until we know all the details.

Even then some folks will probably still claim he was "Epstein'd".

Caring1Ask Apple.
Apple like many other large companies (including newscorp owners of fox "news") donate to both political parties to make sure they pay little to no corporate tax. John did not donate to them plus his pump and dump schemes made him wanted by NY as well. He had multiple legal issues.

Some say terabytes of encrypted data show up on Ethereum, set to publish on his death?

Does anyone know how many years he may have been looking at in prison? Maybe he just couldn't face being locked up for a long, long time. I spent only 2 weeks in jail one time and I was all to happy to get out. It isn't pleasant. The food sucks. I got beat up one day just because some guys were bored.

30.

And he pretty much comitted suicide after hearing the "bad news". Anything but USA prison. The sentence would mean he'd die in prison, which the irony, he did.

Personally, I think he (along with a ton of other criminals) was due for a tar & feather/hung upside down by his toenails treatment, but that's just me, hehehe :)

Or the much more logical outcome of long term imprisonment: you fabricate your own reality to distract from the truth that you lost at a gamble in life and are so royally fucked, death is your only way out.

Tattooing yourself to pre empt your own dance with the abyss is telling IMHO. He was indeed clairvoyant on hus own state of mind. Whacked himself.
