ForceWare 97.94 for GeForce 8800s

NVIDIA has updated the display drivers for users with GeForce 8800 series cards running on Windows XP. Some minor issues have been fixed issues including the media player hanging when playing MPEG2 HD video clips using overlay in 1080i and then switching to full screen mode, system crashes after four or more suspend/resume cycles and screen corruption when running Company of Heroes in SLI mode. You can download these drivers here.

Nice to see Nvidia working hard on their drivers. Do they finally have working Vista drivers?

Time to start modding these to work with the 7 series and lower cards, AKA doing nVidia's job for them.

leaked betas are in the 10x.xx range (yes for XP) but have their own bugs to deal with.

Nvidia have 'working' Vista drivers, they just happen to crash a lot :P (at least for GTX users, 7/8 sreies cards work fine)

i had another physical memory dump error NV4 last night on my 3rd round of age of empires 3.. made no sense to me.. 1st 2 round i went against 4 apponents on hard, the went against 3 on extreme on the last round and it froze me out md game.. black screen to blue screen to memory dump NV4... i hope the driver fixes something cause this is out of hand now.. my back is killing me..lol..

well, at least they updated the driver finally. I hope it does something.. nice find.

an nv4 dump usually means an unstable overclock, but it can also be a driver problem

i suggest you drop your cpu back to stock and see if that fixes the problem, my bet is that it will

Gotta say if im not stable at 1.55 v on a 3.2 ghz oc on a e6400, nothing would ever make me stable, not even a lightning powered chipset.. my timings i have varied from 4-4-4-12 all the way to 6-7-7-31 in small steps and in just about every direction.. 4-5-4, 6-4-6 etc.. and nothing helped.. if it was an unstable overclock why would it run perfectly for the two games before it that i was against 4 opponents then black screen to the blue screen of death after only going against 3 opponents.. it should of failed vs 4 opponents I would of thought.. anyway I hope this driver fixes something.. im going home, uninstalling anything with the name nvidia on it and starting over again. i cant handle another reformat. i swear ill slam this thing into a wall.. I didn't buy all this "enthusiast" hardware for high prices to not be able to oc it properly.. dropping my fsb is not an option. it should run like this and even way more. up to 3.4 even 3.6 ghz for this processor.. 3.2 is nothing..

Newer drivers generally mean more bug fixes, so 97.95 should be slightly better than the 97.94, but that isn't always true.

I have been using the 97 series drivers on my 7900GTs for the past few months. They have their bugs, but they do work. They are still much better than the 93 series, IMO.

will having an overly high core clock for your gpu cause memory dumps normally?
