GALAX GeForce RTX 4090 HOF PCB Pictured with Two 16-pin Power Inputs

GALAX showed off its GeForce RTX 4090 HOF (hall of fame) graphics card targeting enthusiasts. The card is meant to be paired with extreme cooling solutions to climb up benchmarking leaderboards. A massive 27+4 phase VRM powers the card, which pulls power from two 12+4 pin ATX 12VHPWR connectors for a theoretical maximum power draw of 1275 W. The idea behind the two connectors is to support a power-limit that's above 600 W. We'll have to wait and see what it is, but we doubt it's "1200 W."

The additional power connector should also help soak up excursions during intense benchmarking sessions, which could otherwise destabilize the OC and cause the benchmark to crash. The production of the card, in its OCLab Edition SKU, typically ships with a Bitspower-sourced water block. If you're having déjà vu reading this post, it's because this is actually the second HOF graphics card by GALAX to feature two 12VHPWR inputs, the previous one was the RTX 3090 Ti HOF, which was released in April 2022.

Should come with a free LN2 pot. Air aint going to be enough for that slab of heat.

1275W... :kookoo:
Better to keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

At this point I wouldn't blame GALAX for simply not including a cooler at all. Resolve all responsibility. You buy it, break it how you wish. If you're buying an HOF card you should know what you're signing up for, anyway.

Useless without a voltage mod, but doubt it would fly with Nvidia if they ship the card with one.

Interesting whitish-greyish colour of the PCB - do you know that the dark coloured objects radiate heat slower, while light coloured objects radiate heat faster and generally stay cooler? :)

It looks like those jumpers are there to help bypass the shunt resistor. Heavy overclock ready. I expect to see this card exceed 600w on LN2.

But, but... I was told the 12VHPWR connector was to save PCB space!

Could be good if it's 300 split, less meltage.

raptori200% chance to melt.
That would be 50%, actually.

I actually prefer 8*8PIN design.
Make much more sense than this nonsense.

so this will need 2 adapters?

Yep, straight from your warp core's dilithium chamber to the card, hahahaha ..:D....:fear:

2x connectors = 2x space saved. Not sure why you're confused.

More than anything, it's a PR stunt card.

not if you put 1200W trough it

Because 500w models weren't already ridiculous enough :D

You couldn't even if you tried.

That's correct. At most I would think it will pull somewhere around 650 to 800. It must pull more than 600w in the lab, that's why the second connector is there. It would look odd if they fitted the older 8/6 pin, so to make the card look good, it was better to fit "matching 12 pin sockets". Then again, the second connector could be there just to stabilize it when it exceeds 600w.

In any case, this is built for LN2 overclockers in-mind.

While I don't think the LN2 extreme is needed, no one will be air-cooling that GPU.

Maybe. Perhaps even likely.

The jumpers to bypass the shunt resistor says it all. When you start to bypass the shunt resistors you know you are heading north of 600w+

Ooh right. Good point! I overlooked those.
