SilverStone Unveils a Vibrant Selection of ATX3.0 PSUs at Computex 2023

SilverStone showcased a large selection of new and upcoming PSUs at Computex 2023. The star attraction at their booth was the HELA 2050R Platinum (model: SST HA2050R PM), which is, well, hela powerful. This 2050 W PSU comes with two 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors each capable of 600 W continuous output, besides close to a dozen 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors. It includes a flattened, ribbon-type 12VHPWR cable that the company claims is "super flexible." The PSU meets both ATX 3.0 and PCIe Gen 5 standards. It meets Cybenetics Platinum switching efficiency. SilverStone plans to launch the HELA 2050R Platinum toward the end of June, 2023. This model will be joined by the HELA 1650R (SST HA1650R PM) later this year. This 1650 W model retains much of the feature-set of its 2050 W sibling, but in a lower depth body. You still get two 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors, the same Cybenetics Platinum switching efficiency, and those flat black 12VHWPR flexible cables. SilverStone plans to launch the HELA 1650R in September 2023.
The HELA 1300R Platinum only has one 16-pin 12VHPWR, including its flat, flexible cable, but offers most of the other PSU features of the 1650R and 2050R models, including Cybenetics Platinum switching efficiency. The ZEUS 1650R Titanium and ZEUS 1350R Titanium should be SilverStone's flagship PSU models, given their stellar 80 Plus Titanium switching efficiency rating (rare for such high wattage-classes). Both models give you two 16-pin 12VHPWR connectors, use 135 mm FDB fans, and support three kinds of fan-control, including a 0 dBA silent mode up to a certain amount of load. SilverStone plans to launch the ZEUS 1650R and ZEUS 1350R in October 2023.
The SFX-L Extreme 1000R Gold and Extreme 1200R Platinum form the high C/P performance segment for SilverStone. As their names suggest, the Extreme 1000R Gold is a 1000 W PSU with Cybenetics Gold switching efficiency; while the Extreme 1200R Platinum is 1200 W with Cybenetics Platinum rating. Both offer one 16-pin 12VHPWR connector, and come in low-depth bodies, asnd 120 mm FDB cooling. The company also showed off the SX1000R Platinum White, an exclusive all-white variant of the Extreme 1000R, but with Cybenetic Platinum switching efficiency.
Lastly, we were shown the Gemini 900A Gold (model: SST GM900A GF), a 900 W physically redundant PSU with hot-swappable subunits. These are designed for applications such as home-servers, and meet Cybenetics Gold switching efficiency. These interface with software over a USB 2.0 connection, and SilverStone provides a UI for monitoring the status of each of the sub-units. SilverStone plans to launch this in the beginning of June.

So what's actually new in ATX 3.0, besides the new connector? Is it innovation, or just a ruse to get us to buy new PSU?

thesmokingmanVibrant eh? Still looking...
Power density is really the drawcard here, the 2050 & 1650 with dual 12VHPWR, the 1300R being only 140mm in length, and the SFX-L unit pushing 1200W.

Now is this power density needed? Probably not. But there isn't many competitors at this time either.

Other changes that will affect user experience would be the much higher tolerance for power excursion (peak power) so that means a genuine ATX 3.0 PSU must be able to handle twice its rated wattage for short period of time. Sleep / wake speed of your PC should improve as well when paired with newer motherboard.
