ASUS Readies Evangelion-themed ROG Product Line

ASUS is readying a wider range of Evangelion-themed ROG product line, building on the collaboration the company built with the popular Japanese action anime in 2022. The 2023 lineup is comprehensive, and includes a special Evangelion edition of the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard, special edition variants of GeForce RTX 40-series ROG Strix graphics cards (could be anything from the RTX 4070 thru RTX 4090), a special edition ROG Hyperion GR701 case, themed ROG Ryujin II AIO CPU cooler, a themed ROG Thor ATX 3.0 power supply, and lastly, keycap and body panel sets for its various ROG gaming peripherals. ASUS is planning to showcase the 2023 Evangelion lineup at Bilibili World, later this month.

sepheronxDepends hold you are. Evangelion was a mid 90's thing so there are probably a lot around who were fans of it.
OK that explains a lot, because all I could think was it looks like Donatello threw up all over them / 90s ski jacket :p

An overhyped overpriced brand of hardware, that treats its customers like idiots; themed with overrated navel gazing trash anime that threats its audience like total morons.

It's a match made in hell.

AusWolflatest anime hype lasts.
Evangelion is from 1995 dude. I'm pretty sure its not "hype" anymore. That's a timeless classic. Its been 28 years.

AusWolfSee my post above: it's not about lifelong fans, but the fact that Asus decided to jump on the hype train now, and they'll probably get off at the next stop, leaving fans with their custom 4090s when the 5090 and 6090 are already out.
I see what you meant. People will still enjoy getting them as a collectable, and their rarity might even give them an additional value down the line.

ir_cowRound two? Maybe it won't be the Green and Purple. I know that is the colors of the mech, but its ugly.
The new pictures are of Asuka, who pilots the red-and-orange Eva Unit 02. Her colors are definitely more mainstream / popular.

Shinji / Eva Unit 01 is the main character, but no one likes him. (For good reason: he's an exceptionally broken character going through tough times). Rei was most interesting to me personally (Unit 00), but Asuka's colors are probably the most fashionable?

Rei's Eva was the prototype in the story... and doesn't appear too often. I'd expect a Rei-based design to be of her white-and-blue suit. Which probably would look good. I honestly can't remember much about Unit 00 though.

I can definitely see a Rei white themed set of peripherals for the last wave

There's probably a market for grimdark models.

Ex: Mass Production Model Eva colors (white and black). Sachiel (angel from the 1st episode), or Seele colors.

Honestly, I can see myself buying Seele themed Eva-stuff before I buy Unit 01 or Shinji colors, lol.

Final finished all the movies, yeah waiting 12 years was not worth it. Did not one think to ask WTF is going on? The last two needs major rewrites for any sort of coherence. The Anime was much better.

I actually think 3.0+1.0 is a masterpiece.

The movie ties together the original ending with the Rebirth ending. It solidifies Gendo's mindset (ex: a big question was how does Gendo see Rei? Yes, she's a clone of Gendo's wife/clone of Shinji's mother, but the 3.0+1.0 movie clarifies finally that Gendo see's Rei as her own self, as a daughter. Not as a science-project to recreate his wife). Rei's development after all is about her clone-self: whose soul is she? Where does she fit in all of this? She may be the most fit mentally, but she's still got existential issues, and the movie finalizes where she plays in the entire plot... in a way that the other two endings failed to do.

A lot of the fan-theory was that Rei saw her self (and Gendo saw Rei), as Yui (the wife of Gendo / mother of Shinji). The movie explicitly goes against the fan-theories and gives us a far more plausible explanation. Contradicting the long-running fan-theories of the relationship of characters takes a lot of guts, and this "Rei is the daughter of Gendo / Sister of Shinji" thing is a very pleasant way to tie up the series.

The anime-ending was pretty good (and I like it a lot more than Rebirth). But 3.0+1.0 really adds to it.

------------

From Shinji's perspective, it actually gives a plausible escape for Shinji's depression. It takes multiple weeks, and characters who have grown up (since Shinji is time-locked due to the 3rd impact). Grown-up Toji and the new character Mari Makinami give Shinji a path to escape the oppression of the Hedgehog's paradox.

EDIT: The fight scenes were kind of bad though. But I guess they were better than the original ending.

sepheronxThere is a trend of people putting toys inside their PC's.

Ever since PC really became mainstream, it's a lot of people doing weird and outright stupid things that manufacturers take advantage of. Hence why 99.99999999999% of cases are the same cookie cutter crap.

Back in my days, we just had a tiger on the box, white and red motherboard if lucky, or some big breast chick on my GPU cooler.
You got that right, all cases are rainbow vomit comets. I rather have my case or an older Lian Li, Coolermaster HAF

@dragontamer5788 probably should put all of that under spoiler for anyone that hasn't watched it yet.

The 3rd movie is just Shinji mooping around and crying a bunch with little reason to care. He blindly does whatever his dad says to do, never questions anything and than is sad that he basically destroyed the world. People yell at him for being a idiot and yet he still doesn't understand whats up or down and is just obsessed with Rei. Furthermore the main "cast" knows what he can do, doesn't tell him and takes him along for the ride expecting what? Not him to do exactly what is dad told him to do for the last 2 movies?

Number 4. Where to begin.. umm it have no plot until the last 15 minutes when you get info dumped on that should have been spread across the previous 3 movies. At this point, I stopped caring and just waiting for the movie to end. Basically Shinji dad is a angel, Shinji is a angel and Rei is a angel. All so Shinji mom could come back to "life". Why did it take so long to destroy the world? Could have completed this in the first movie.

Anyways, really a waste of time. I don't recommend anyone watching the movies, just stick to the incomplete anime series.

I don’t think you understand this universe (or psychoanalysis) at all… I’d recommend reading some Freud but hey, maybe the series just isn’t for you, nbd :)

not that @dragontamer5788 ’s explanation was perfect (where’s the Gendo analysis!!!), but I think you aren’t understanding that the goal of NERV et al wasn’t a nihilistic ending of the world but a (nihilistic) rebuilding that Shinji (despite his depression) acts against (in order to achieve a more compassionate singularity that brings about a reset of humanity rather than a holy permanence)

That Series needs a reboot, Harmony Gold was creative with Robotech by implementing 3 totally different anime into 1. I think a Robotech reboot should carry on from where Robotech:The Macross Saga left off, I know there was a movie but it was left unfinished.

Escaflowne was the best to me. The Atlantis reference was crazy but the Action was top class.

It's all because of the court battle between Hasbro and some other company who claimed ownership of Macross series. Apparently that was resolved this year in Hasbros favor. So they plan new releases.

I have the DVD of the Macross Plus OST and I'm planning to buy the Robotech Blu-ray bundle.

If you enjoyed the main differences that Robotech brought in in terms of Music and culture Macross 7 standouts with the Japanese version delivering music that would rival anything on American idol.

I'm not crazy about the music. I like orchestra style of some Japanese animations, to be specific Studio Gibli stuff like my favorite Castle in the sky. Macross was decent in that regard. I just loved the story though - other beings male and female that were designed similar to humans but being the bad guys and that protohumans created all of them including the humans.
