VAIO Announces Vision+ 14, the "World's Lightest" Portable Monitor

VAIO Corporation has introduced the "world's lightest" mobile display, the VAIO Vision+ 14", available for personal and corporate use. Weighing just 325 g, this device is designed for those who travel a lot, however, it can be a tempting companion at home and at the office. The VAIO Vision+ features a 14.0-inch wide LCD panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. Despite its large screen, it's thin at just 3.9 mm at its slimmest point. The display offers high brightness (400cd/m², 1200:1 contrast ratio), wide viewing angles (178° up/down/left/right), and a broad color gamut (sRGB 100%), with anti-glare treatment to reduce eye strain during extended use.

The VAIO Vision+ portable monitor can be connected and powered using a single USB Type-C cable, supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode and bus power operation (2x USB Type-C ports are included on the side). It can be positioned horizontally or vertically using the included cover stand, which protects the unit during transport. VAIO is also offering an optional privacy filter to prevent visual hacking in public spaces. The VAIO Vision+ is available at around $340.

Ah, I see. An LCD panel. Which type? Don’t worry about it!
Now sure, since it’s 1200:1 contrast one can infer that it’s an IPS type, but I still despise when the manufacturer doesn’t specify these things.

Why boast it being the thinnest? I’m big into portable monitors and my favorite is my thickest one…. Never feel like it’s going to break and actual full sized ports.

Sad resolution. Most people have better resolution on their laptops, and if they want a second screen they want the same quality or better. And if you have a poor resolution, an external screen is ideal way of improving for legibility e.g. reading documents, large spreadsheets etc.

It also looks very fragile and flimsy. There needs to be a balance between durability and portability. This screen does not instill confidence of durability. Just looking at that thing it seems like it would break by picking the thing up the wrong way. No thank you Sony. Hard pass.

I picked up a portable FHD monitor, for a third of the price and it does all the same stuff.
The "name" isn't going to convince me to pay more.

The quality of Sony products is a compelling consideration. But the design has to match the price. In this case, it does seem to.

Shou MikoI feel Sony is too overpriced you can find even 16inch on amazon with 100% sRGB they don't have power passthrough I know that but if that's not needed than this for 150euros sounds like a steal.

Wow. Just clicked on both of your amazon.de links, and am offered EUR 40/50 coupons if I buy today. Very tempted. Do you have a recommendation of one over the other? (yes just EUR 99/109!) Resolution is a lot lower than I would like, I'd prefer a QHD or similar (2560x1600), so I'll check around for other coupon deals.

I seen them too and are really temping for my media content instead of actually changing out the screen in my L14 G2 with Innolux N140HCG-GQ2.

about 240euro for a 2560x1600 pixel, ips, 500nits, 1200:1: www.amazon.de/-/en/UPERFECT-Portable-Monitor-Protective-Compatible/dp/B0B2K2JRTN/

another one for about 190euro 2560x1600 pixel, ips, 100% sRGB, HDR, 1500:1: www.amazon.de/-/en/UPERFECT-Portable-Monitor-Display-Screen/dp/B0BZ4GVJKW/

Keep in mind they are only 60Hz but if you can live because 144Hz options are over 300euros which is kinda expensive.
