Its a shame Intel doesnt have SKU for LGA 1700 with E cores only(similar to N100) as that will make this a great NAS or router.

There are boards that do this, just with soldered on N100 or i3-N305 processors instead of a socket.

Amazon.com: N100 Industrial Motherboard NAS 4 Cores 4 Threads Low Power Processor 4x2.5G i226 Network M.2 Slot 6xSATA DP HDMI 2.0 PCIE ×1 .1*M2_ SSD NVME/NGFF+ 1*M.2_ NVME : Electronics

I know there are quite a lot of unknown Chinese manufacturers making those but best luck trying to get support(for both software and hardware) post sales compared to more "mainstream/established" manufacturer.

Yeah, this is a fair point. I was sure Topton (one of the makers of these types of boards: Topton 6-Bay i3-N305 NAS Motherboard (toptonpc.com)) is kinda on the reasonable side of things because they aren't a tiny company, but after checking it seems like getting support from them is kinda rough.

Double-ClickGreen PCB and beige plastic.

Looks cool though. I'd love a "retro-ish" upper tier board lol.

It draws power directly from your positronic implants.....which are sold separately, and will be installed by the AI Surgi-bot thingy, which is also sold separately, hahahaha :)

Three different SKUs with different chipsets all with the same name. Weird...
Why not name them after the chipset?

Just below the onboard USB-C plug, lower right corner.

For the market segment these boards are intended to be used in that is the standard. Not going to find fancy colors or RGB on them!

For a future looking router or NAS I'd take one of these over a N100/N305 board any day. Those chips are limited to a max of 9 PCIe 3 lanes for everything. Some of those boards have to use bridge chips that share bandwidth between the NICs or other devices.

LGA 1700 gets you the option of a 16x PCIe 5 slot along with the NVME and other devices on PCIe 4. That's a massive amount of additional I/O bandwidth.

Also the N100/N305 boards are limited to a max of 32 GB RAM (officially 16 GB.) Even though the official RAM spec for these ITX boards is for 64GB RAM I wouldn't be surprised if that were extended to 96 GB via a BIOS update as 48GB DDR5 SODIMMS are available.

Install any of the T series 35W CPUs in it and it will probably sip power most of the time.
