Here in the UK, I can get the 2TB version of this drive for £280, but the 4TB costs nearly £750!
I dread to think what they'll want for the 8TB one.
Let's go! :D Same, but I care about heat!
So somewhat "slover" like 8GB/s is preferable if it can run with passive cooling under 70°C
Without pricing and date of availability this is hardly an announcement of launch.
Prices are still higher than back then even after the recent OK-ish reductions. I think manufacturers are clearing out stocks of old models via discounts to make way for new models that will cause the price to go up again.
If you truly want cheap 4, 8, or 12TB+ SSD's you'll probably have to wait until PLC flash becomes commercially available in around a year to year and a half from now. I'd expect them to be slower, hotter, and have around half the life cycle of current QLC flash though.
My last 2 SSDs were a 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2 months ago for around 60€/TB and a Sata QLC SSD with 8TB for 37,5€/TB in 2023. (which is now above 60€/TB)
