Office Compatibility Pack released

Microsoft has released a new compatibility pack for Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 file formats. This pack should allow Office 2000, XP or 2003 users to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations using the Office 2007 format, which may be useful to people moving documents between work and home where different versions of Office are in use. Before you install the pack, make sure you have installed all high priority updates from Microsoft Update - you can download the 27.5MB pack here.

Wow. MS took their time. And how about Open Office compatibility? MS should pull their finger out! Lack of compatibility between office versions and OO is forcing us to use PDF as the document standard. Great for Adobe. Own goal for MS

I guess I was the only one thinking these formats were compatible with the new Office 2007.

M$ really must have thought the vista gimmick would drive sales of other associated software's, pretty needless upgrade like quite a few EA sports games.

The Office 2000, XP, and 2003 formats are compatible with 2007. This is saying that the 2007 format is now compatible with the other 3.

The day that MS makes Office compatible with OpenOffice will be the day that MS admits that it's starting to lose market share. Don't hold your breath.
