8800GT Revealed
People over at Hardspell today got a picture of the NVIDIA inside PPT in which high-end graphic cards 8800 and 2900 are tested in CPU usages when decoding H.264 HD. The entire test is based on an Core 2 Duo processor. The blue ones are the CPU usage only decoded by CPU, the red ones are after inserted 2900 while the green ones are after inserted 8800GT. From what the picture says the 8800GT supports H.264 hardware decoding but 2900XT and 2900Pro don't. Good move from NVIDIA to present a cheap 8800 series based solution and name it 8800GT.

My 3500+ on the other hand, need all the help it can get decoding 1080p. It could barely go full speed with my old 7600gt, but it's smooth as silk with my x1950 pro.
I also agree that they should've used the HD2600 for the comparo. If you have the cash to spend on a 2900, you better have the cash for a cpu strong enough to decode HD H.264 on it's own. The only people this should be a concern for are those that have midrange gfx and cpu budgets.
