Second Life and World of Warcraft Infested With Terrorists

MMORPG's have a distinct advantage to them, in the way you can (supposedly) escape reality and live as a completely different creature in a different world. However, this ulterior world attracts more than just people trying to escape life's harsh realities. Games such as Second Life and World of Warcraft have reported several instances of cyber-terrorism. In some instances, Australian police have found evidence that terrorists are using these virtual worlds to recruit terrorists and train them. Experts on the matter say that "terrorists are rehearsing their operations in Second Life because they can't practice in the real world". Experts also notice that terrorists "can gain training in games such as World of Warcraft in a simulated environment, using weapons that are identical to real-world armaments."

:wtf: If thats the case i'm a special forces operative that knows how to use stealth, tactics, and high powered weapons for close quarters and long range situations to exterminate terrorists with extreme prejudice... Bring it... The United States of America...creating a nation of rifleman one gamer at a time :rockout:

What a joke... in the real world, if you anywere near a grenade that goes off, you are pretty much dead or in very bad shape. In World of Warcraft, it will simply cause some damage that can be healed very quickly. The real world is just that... real. One well placed shot will easily kill a target... if they want to practice in that kind of setting then they need to look for more realistic games.

i think battlefield wud be a more representative game where one can use real life simulated armaments to depict real combat warfare , WOW is no where near that level , ofcourse this is an austrailian news , nothign against the aussies , but they hop like kangaroos to a conclusion. ;)

Of course there aren't terrorists in WoW. However, by saying that there are, the government now has a convenient excuse (not a reason -- they don't need a reason) to spy on anyone playing online games, including WoW.

You ever play joint operations? Now i've done some true guerilla warfare tactics on there...two men engaging fifty and surviving...and then disappearing and coming back as they finally get their crap back together.

Actually (and unfortunatly) you can learn a lot in games like WOW;
Suberversion
Sabatoge
Theft
Tactics
Interculturial communication

How people act/react to;
Fear
Suprise
Confrontation
Confusion
Those ae just a few examples, the list is long.

Information can be gathered thru in game chats/TS etc.
Terrorism is phycological, it's people skills, there are a lot of "unsuspecting" people in "games"; You never realy know who they are or their intentions.

Most of us don't remember WWII or the "close your mouth" policy's inacted.
Think before you talk to people in game. They may claim to be from your country and even sound like it, You never really know. Is it worth it.

Never answer questions about deployed freinds, family or relatives etc.
Never answer questions about Public opinion in regards to active military conflicts.
If it "sounds" improper, it probably should not be talked about.
If specifics are asked for, you may want to take some action, every little bit of information we gather can aid OUR SOLDIERS.(screen name or IP, etc)
The Patriot Act may sound a little extreme but it's in place for a reason.

Do you "KNOW" your clan and who they are? You might be suprised!!

PARLE VOUS INGLES USTED!? What are you talking about. You see people who support the Patriot act don't really understand the freedoms that we lost. You are LESS free than you were before the act was put into effect. For our safety or not, that act was put in place to let your government SPY ON YOU! Your government is here to protect you and not to spy on you and i agree that it helps fight terrorism and drug smugglers, but at the same time you screwed yourself without applying the lube.

People are too quick to vote away their freedoms and give the government more power to control you. Wish more people saw it that way and thought before they started voting. Its no coincidence that the richest of the rich CEO's were at Democratic conventions before the presidential election. And then everyone complains about republicans because WE (yes...WE) voted in a complete moron. Social programs are another way to get money out of your pocket and give the government a right to help control your lives.

Give and take man, yeah we lost freedoms and yes it does help protect the country. It's just whatever way you look at it. Let me put it this way, if you're a drug smuggler you're going to hate this, if you're the kind of person who doesn't do anything bad you should just shrug it off or have a slight opinion. I'm saying you smuggle drugs just that if you're not doing anything like smuggling drugs, why do you worry? Yeah you lose privacy, but not to the point where you got a camera in your bedroom.

Not everyone voted Bush in, lol. Yeah, he's made mistakes, and yeah he's done good things. He's known for the mistakes he made like going into Iraq on false intel. But if you think about it, the bursting of the net bubble could've been alot worse, but now we face the consequence of the tax cuts which is alot of debt. Not only that but a growing economy in China because of exports to the US. Most things he's done there have been good and bad, but we all would prefer more good than bad.

For starters, they spied on us before the Act was in place, at least now we know it!!
You sound like someone we need to spy on.
Not everyone on the planet believes in the same things we do, and they want us GONE!!
Some of these plans have been in the works since the end of WWII.(more than 50 years).
Keep in mind, many terrorist imigrated to the U.S. Years Ago(more than 20 years). I hope you don't have any family members in the Military, because you are not helping KEEP THEM ALIVE!!
