Steam Begins Pre-Loading BioShock
Valve today announced that 2K Boston and 2K Australia's highly anticipated first person shooter BioShock is now available for pre-order on Steam for the price of $49.95 in the US and $54.95 in Europe. Steam users can now begin downloading the game's assets, which will be unlocked and activated on the release date of the retail version: August 21 in North America and August 24 in Europe. BioShock is a first person shooter (FPS) that lets you do things never before possible in the genre: turn everything into a weapon, biologically mod your body with plasmids, hack devices and systems, upgrade your weapons and craft new ammo variants. According to Irrational Games (now known as 2K Boston and 2K Australia), BioShock is a revolution in the shooter genre that will forever change the expectations for the FPS. EDIT: And shouldn't it be pre-ordering BioShock and not pre-loading? LOL
This means you will actually be able to play the game as soon as it is released...hehe.

I can have my games anywhere on any computer without having to haul CDs/DVDs around (not to mention the times where...Damn I forgot my CD key.
That's around 12 years of games that I would rather not have on CD due to space. Not only that, but CDs like most of my Blizzard games become scratched over time, and then I have to buy new ones. More money and hassel than I ever want to deal with.
you can forget you pc and cd/dvds at home and take a drive to hawai and find a good pc and play all you games there
so steam rules
its just like webemail :rockout:
Sometimes (PC crash, steam crash, system clock reset, a week without logging in) it wont stay in offline mode, which can bugger you up if you got no net.
I'm in habit of buying legit via steam and a 'warez' copy for LAN play when steam goes cranky - not the best solution, but i get my games.
Edit: and they broke lost planet with an update today, the game wont start saying yoru user account is unverified. GO STEAM GO.
