Someone at Coolaler forums has leaked pictures and details about the upcoming RV670-XTX card. The leaked card has 256MB of memory on a 256-bit interface. It has a 55nm GPU that runs at 600 MHz. The eight Hynix memory chips are rated to run at 900 MHz.

why are they naming a card with 256mb ram that's 256-bit the XTX? seems fishy

Its an engineering sample, the actual release *could* have more. (just a wild guess) The card doesn't have a proper name yet, for all we know its the 2100xtx. :P

It's RV670, so it has to be mainstream. And it makes sense because those cards are usually the first to get a shrink.

Isn't this just hd2950pro? Earlier news said:

"AMD's new RV670 will have two versions; RV670 XT and RV670 PRO, named "Gladiator" and "Revival". Gladiator will feature 512MB of GDDR4 memory clocked at 1.2GHz, and 825MHz clocked core. Revival will come in 256MB or 512MB GDDR3 flavors, with 750MHz core clock and 900MHz memory clock speeds."

Now the specs match in memory for pro, but still lacks in core speed and not even close to supposed XT specs.

EDIT: "Unfortunately he doesn't reveal the GPU frequency. The driver identifies the GPU and memory as running at 600 MHz each, which are most likely the 2D clocks. RV670 is expected to hit at least 800 MHz in retail format." <- well that would explain the low core speed.

Looks like a new midrange card to me, i cant see it get a 29xx model number now they used up the pro name, more likely either a 2650, or 27/28xx

It makes sense to me that this card would be the 2950 pro. The 2950xtx probablly uses a different pcb.

OnBoard...but that "RV670 XT" might be just hd2650xt?
My guess wasn't maybe so far off after all, as W1zzard wondered
W1zzardsince when are performance parts like 2950 XT called RV... ?
Then the two RV versions would make somewhat sense, but rv670pro (hd2950pro?) being faster than rv670xt (hd2650xt/hd2600xtx?) doesn't :P

EDIT: Anyways, looks like it could take Zalman's VF900, then just some sink thingy needed for voltage regulators and you'd be set for a quiet overclocking card :) (read: put the orginal cooler in my x1900xt back, sell it and move the VF900 to this :P) That of course only if this is faster and cheap.

OnBoard; My guess wasn't maybe so far off after allFrom what I have read from AMD's site before was different.....[/B]

AMD QUOTE; AMD released additional specifications for its next-generation platform for desktops, code-named “Leo.” Based on the upcoming AMD Phenom processor, RD790 Northbridge and SB700 Southbridge chipsets, and R670 and R680 graphics cards, “Leo” will be introduced in 2008.

but whatever it is.....it sure does look good, I hope that with all this hype they actually release something that is competitive with Nvidia.

I can definitely see it being the 2600XTX to knock out the 8600GTS

it wouldnt knock it out it would bury it :nutkick: though really they should bump to 2650 or something if they do that or it will be confusing 2600XT VS 2600XTX would confuse consumers significantly

well yeah I agree, hadn't thought about that, but irregardless it would stomp on the 8600gts and that's all that matters :)
