Half-Life 2: Episode Two Goes Gold

Valve has confirmed that The Orange Box has indeed gone gold. However, when asked about the eventual Steam pre-loading of
Portal and Half Life 2: Episode Two a company representative could not provide an exact date. The PC and Xbox 360 editions of Valve's ultra compilation The Orange Box have entered the manufacturing process, reports GameDaily BIZ. Commonly referred to as "going gold," it indicates that development is complete and that the game will arrive in stores shortly.

So, is this the last of the series, or will there be another episode/full game?

I'm pretty sure there will be more episodes. Finishing at Episode 2 seems a bit odd IMO...although SiN Episodes only got to number 1 :(

I say in the next 2 years when they need to totally revamp the Source Engine into equal or beyond Crysis territory then HL3 will come out.

The 3 episodes where planned out from the beginning so there will probably not be anymore episodes after the Third one, probably not even another half life....

The source engine still looks extremely good. They have added a lot of new things over the years, just showing how adaptable it is.

Oh no, i want more after EP3. I like this game so much, i dont know what im gonna do if there isnt a Half-life 3. They can also remake the Half-life 1 with better graphics or a episode between the end of HL1 and the begin of HL2 lol

Adaptive is nice, but aren't they just making these "episodes" so that they wouldn't have to put some Real money and effort into a sequel?
We're looking at 2004-2005 graphics here, still running on the same engine. They are lucky that Half Life 2 was such a good looking game to begin with.

i doubt they would do this unless they knew what the source engine was capable of ..its a amazing engine believe it or not...and they have added alot to tweak it up and the thing about it is it can always be upgraded in some way to better it..thats why its called the Source engine...

Doesnt matter on what engine it runs, for it depends what quality of textures are in use and what graphical enhancements are being used. For BF1942, and BF2 uses the same engine, just slightly modified to support newer quality textures and other enhancements.

Well I hope it's worth all the wait, this episode thing is not working. Waiting a year and a half or more for one episode is just wrong. By the time you have 2 episodes, thats 3 years gone by, and man, thats a whole 20 hour game that should be made in that time. Anyways, very excited about this.

indeed, that is the whole complain with these episodes that they are not consistent. The main goal for these that we will have a new one like every 6-8 months to at most an year. But i kinda understand this delay, for they had TF2, portal, and have to port all of hl2, ep1, tf2, portal, and of course ep2 to consoles.

Uh no they both use completely different engines dude, do your homework. 1942 and Vietnam used the same , but modified engine, the same as BF2 and 2142.
And by the way, sourse is not very good at large outdoor enviornments. So lets see em slightly modify that! :)

you should do your homework, i have modded bf42, and done some early works for bf2, both engines are the same...as i didnt have to restudy bf2 to mod it. Biggest change between bf1942, and bf2 is the filesystem (how files are packaged, and formated).

I did but the graphics are crap, Its not comparable with HL2. It would be cool a HL1 with the same graphics as HL2, but that would take years, wouldnt it?
