Intel 45nm Yorkfield Does 4653MHz on Air

Some air cooling action with the new Intel 45nm Yorkfield QX9650 Core 2 Extreme processors, provided by XS legend hipro5. Check out the full thread here. Tuniq Tower with a DELTA fan was used for this overclocking session.

I hate to say it, but where's Weer now to tell me how his Q6600@3.8GHz(possible 4GHz) will smoke the QX9770, telling me that I know nothing about computers.

lol... not to get a warning again.. but Weer is one *&%£ of a fanboi

very nice results, but is an extreme, wonder how easy it is to get there on a standard version? well i guess if your board does the right fsb your singing home :)

EDIT: AND nice to see ATI in the scores :)

Edit Edit: thats pretty hot literally, 71C... but then again, its rated Tjunc is 100C. Boiled eggs while you game anyone? :)

wonder what on earth it can do on phase???

Really Rofl.

After reading Xs. The Chip uses 1.36vcore for this. Normally it stays under 50 degree. Hipdro will use it under Ln2 in a short time.

Its an Es Chip and its not maxed out.

I gues we will have many people with a 5gig 4 core conroe in a short time.

This ones to much $$ for me :(, but hot damm 4.6 with under 1.5v now this is some nice safe overclocking if you ask me.. just how I like it.

Well I hope its little brothers can do 4.2ghz easily with under 1.55v, for thats what Im going to wait for now and the max volts I will go.. Im so happy I'll be water cooling by than :)

Hate to bring up old sour threads, but I donno what weer was thinking with his remark, he actually knew quite abit about computers.. I donno how he couldnt see this.

lordy lordy. From everything I've been reading about this processor, it's gonna blow everything prior completely out of the water. - It already broke 10 world records!? Sheesh. What's the timeline/ETA for the 45nm procs?

this chip will be here November 2007! only a couple weeks away! but its the highest one costing $999.. I thin I'll wait for the nexted one down or something.. thats only $530.. remember Intel Nelam (spelt that wrong) is only a year away and that will prob kick theses chips ass and more worth it to go all out on.

ghost101This will destroy phenom x4 cores in term of overclocking. That is if you can jump to the conclusion that phenom cores wont overclock well as AMD are already struggling to hit 3ghz.
No AMDs chips dies will shrink aswell and become more and more powerful. You not really comparing a 64 to AM3 chips come on now that techs like 5 years old. they are totally different.

You dont need to wait for 45nm to acheive that :D

ghost101What are you talking about? Both the Intel chip and AMD FX chips will come out in a matter of months. Whos comparing anything to 5 years ago?

The AMD die shrink will happen late in 2008 and therefore dont count until then. Intel has 45nm chips now and therefore should be compared to AMD 65nm chips now. i dont see how you can be confused with what i said. I explicitly mentioned phemom x4 chips.
Yep, word is that the new 65nm AMD chips will be of similar performance to current 65nm C2D's.......of course at least technically (and probably performance wise) for Intel......65nm is old hat, AMD is really trying hard to catchup but in this game, once you have lost the initative it can take years to win it back, hence AMD chips dominating Intel 2003-2006. But that wont stop me going AMD again of course!

You certainly cannot compare current amd overclocking and bet the new chips will overclock like they do!!!! They are just the first batch and will overclock much better as they evolve flounder boy!!!!!!! They were ment to compete with the current intel chips newer ones are on they way.

ghost101I think you should read my post. Im not using current athlon chips to "jump to the conclusion" as a i said. im using the fact that even with the newest B2 revision of phenom, which will be retail, AMD are struggling to hit 3ghz. Therefore, what hope is there of getting to 4.5ghz on air?

I dont care if later revisons can hit 4.5ghz. Im comparing like for like in terms of time periods.
And they are designed differently and may be more efficent and not need to go as high as current intel and future intel chips do to achieve the same performance. We will see :D

ghost101Well, i hope really thats the case. Seems unlikely though.
Why is that are you a fan boy. I know I am and thats not what I read. I read the AMD chips match the Intel chips very well. Even as a fanboy I can see thru all my own crap to get to the truth. Fab boy for AMD, starting to lean towards *Intel

Clock for clock, Barcelona is better in server apps, normal people stuff (ex gaming) has yet to be seen, but anandtech thinks Intel is going to remain in the lead there. But remember that Nehlam is coming in a year with CSI (or w/e it is now) and integrated memory controller...this is just trying to get Core 2 a little faster.

Which should put a nice limit on their O/Cing. Intel has nothing extra on the chip= helps it be a lot easier to o/c. (and it helps when you can spend a billion dollars on fine-tuning a fab & process tech... but only to be out done in innovation by a tiny company haha, losers).

And I said as much above, point is that they wont match Intels 45nm Quads and duellies (supposidly nowhere near? not sure there) but if you are saying you cannot compare the 2 because they are not like for like, well your right but they are the 2 most upto date chips from each provider, it's not Intels fault that AMD are a year behind them, by the time our beloved AMD get 45nm on the consumers shelves Intel with prob have like 10nm  either that or I will be too old to see the keyboard never mind type on it :D
