Google: Microsoft/Yahoo Merger Will 'Ruin The Internet'

As most of you know, Yahoo is seriously considering letting Microsoft buy them. However, we cannot forget that more than just Microsoft would benefit if Yahoo was to consider letting someone buy them. Google would also be pretty pleased if they could get Yahoo in their pocket, much like YouTube. However, instead of place a bid in, Google sent some nasty comments Microsoft's way.
Could Microsoft now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC? While the Internet rewards competitive innovation, Microsoft has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies-and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets.
Please follow the source article for the full statement Google put out regarding this possible merger/purchase.

effmasterWell joking by throwing insults at a persons post by saying he has some type of disease is not nice. I almost feel the need to report that post
Sorry if I offended you by joking that you sound like a person with BPD. If you want to talk about it anymore, PM me or Skype.

And since you are the type who likes specifics:

BPD is not a disease, it's a disorder. Labeling BPD a disease could be offensive to someone.

@Google: Look who's talking!
I would rather have a 3-way between MS, Yahoo and Google than a 2-way battle between MS and Google...
Wait a minute, 3-way between... sounds kinda'....neah, nevermind!

effmasterWords of wisdom from this guy:toast::toast::toast:

I only try to trust Ask.com. Yes sometimes I will use google but I try not to for the most part. Some things are just faster to search for on certain web search engines. With google You may get 20,000 links to the same thing from the same site, just an added post or so after the article for example.

Ravenas Google is evil because they put a smile on every day. Their just like a child predator. They know you well enough to where your family can trust to leave them alone with you and then thats when they will attack you. Only with Google they are devising something far more devious, than that
great analogy! I'm going to use it tomorrow if you don't mind.

I default to Yahoo but unfortunately, I sometimes fall back to Google for simple searches only. No way I would use their apps.

Same here I would never Trust google with their apps. Save Google Earth

I actually use yahoo for my email account. And simply hope that nothing changes should Microsoft actually buy Yahoo, at least in terms of our accounts.

Hmmm . . . let's see here . . .
Could GOOGLE now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the SEARCH ENGINE? While the Internet rewards competitive innovation, GOOGLE has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies—and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets.
Or, how about this interpretation:
Could ___(proper noun)___ now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the ___(noun)___ that it did with the ___(noun)___? While the ___(noun)___ rewards competitive innovation, ___(proper noun)___ has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies—and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets.
Umm, which one is better, y'all?

jocksteelukM$ just want to buy a customer base rather than another company, i personally think Yahoo's services are better than Microsoft's clogged active-x laden websites and the fact is some people want a measure of independence from Microsoft's services and M$ buying a rival will just make alternate services stronger, i think it is time Lycos made a comeback anyway.
hehe i still have a lycos email account, well 2 actully.

As for MS, I don't see a problem, with this at all. Monoploies are fine in my book, why should MS not close there standards and make everything only run on there OS. Why is it wrong they control the majority of the home market. What did Bill Gates do that no other bussiness man wouldn't? Its thanks to Microsoft that we have so many online each day, sure netscape was first, but most people had never heard about it. They brought us DirectX which is easier to program in than OpenGL and untill recently looked better and was more powerful. They provide updates weekly just about and fix any problems that crop up. If it wasn't for this evil company many things would be diffrent. Did you know Microsoft donates computers to schools that can't afford them, or that they donate money to sevral funds that help out mankind as a whole? Think about this, why is MS so evil, what did they actully do to you except provide you with an Operating system you choose to use, and for some of you old enough you choose to adopt over MacOS back in the late 80's and early 90's. Mircosoft got to the top because they time and agian offered the best product with the best features. Now 20 years later, instead of screaming how great they are, you complain they have to much power, yet your the one that gave it to them.

As for your internet scare its just as stupid as the Y2K theroy was, the US Government wouldn't allow it.

please, google are such hypocrits. there is no such thing as anticompetetive behavior. microsoft can buy whomever they want and include whatever they want in their OS. google can also do this but would rather complain to the govt than compete. google has been buying up companies to expand their empire, so why shouldnt microsoft?

RavenasYou seriously are one up tight guy lol... It was a joke. BPD has symptoms of being a paranoid person.
Ummm, no it doesn't. Paranoia has nothing to do with BDP. It's not considered a symptom or a trait of a Bipolar person.

I wasn't refering to the disorder or the personality disorder as a joke. I was making a joke that someone (spacejunky and effmaster) thinks Google is a EVIL company.

Words spoken from effmaster:

It's just funny how people think that these companies are out to get them. It's humorous to me. Lol, the guy compares google to a child predator.

If MS doesn't do this, in years to come, it will be a 1-way between google and itself. Google JOing :)

Ravenas, no offense, but every single post you make is about how MS is out to get you. You are probably the biggest anti-MS fanboy on the internet. You never look at the big picture in any of your posts. You never think about competition - you only think about destroying microsoft. Well if MS goes down, someone will just take their place - then again, why am I even trying to tell you this - you just don't understand economics or business at all. You must be majoring in Art.

My major is actually Chemical Engineering, I'm in the second level of Organic right now (if you want to get technical, Chemistry is part of the Arts and Sciences). However you're wrong, I rarely put MS down nor am I an anti-ms person (all of my PCs are MS, and the only Apple software I own is my laptop that I use for school, I have 3 PCs 2 with XP and one with Vista Ultimate 64-bit and one laptop with Mac). How long have you been on this forum to actually know me? Oh yeah a month. Lol. I just don't want this merger, be it Microsoft or Apple. When have I ever said MS is out to get me?

Offense taken. You need to think about what you type before you type it. Totally false information and you have no idea what you're talking about, which is starting to become a trend.

yah, highly doubt that, I dont really care either way if this goes down, but I do think its lame of MS to have to buy yahoo, dont they get enough hits from all the people that never change their homepage from where it starts??

The reason I think its lame is because its an excuse to get close to the top for searches. Instead of making a search engine that could really be useful(Ive always thought a real cool search engine built into the OS would be nice) they just buy a top search.

Microsoft has the power to build one and they have the power to buy one, it looks like they chose the easy route.

& the reason I say a built in search is because I have alot of clients that get confused by yahoo or other search engines, as dumb as that sounds. They just want something that they can click on and type in. Thats why I will normally put google desktop on, but its clunky if you have a slow machine. I would recommend use(to the slower people) for the built in MS search if it was easy to use and turned up useful results.

IF the deal goes through I just see MS making a mess of what yahoo is, not that I like yahoo anyways. When I had Musicmatch I loved it, so I bought the unlimited upgrade program, and a year later yahoo bought them out and ruined musicmatch. It has crappy yahoo all over it and it isnt what it used to be.

And I dont think this is a battle that Microsoft should be in. I am happy with a MS OS. I like the way they work and everything about them, I think with the web integrated in better it would be awesome. But I think the "search engine" field should be a seperate entity. I think MS should stick with their strong suit and stay away from yahoo. I like the fact that I can log on the web and not have MS all over it.

-google is right.. this will ruin the internet.. just like ms has tried to copy other companies and failed miserably, but tried to monopolize to rule out the good companies. apple is a good example.

-google could easily bid on top of microsoft if they wanted to.. they aren't poor

-both are power hungry companies.. but google imo is good.. and actually makes damn good products... and they are good about it.. you dont see google making monopolies and shit. not saying that google is an angel either...

-google doesn't need yahoo... they beat yahoo in almost everything..
