Microsoft Can't Keep Up with Zune Demand; Offers Free Zunes as Compensation
Apparently, the Microsoft Zune 80s (which is red for Valentine's Day) is immensely popular. Unfortunately, Microsoft can't keep up. Upon hearing this, Microsoft decided that they did not want the bad press of not keeping a promise. And so, if you're not getting your red Zune by Valentine's Day (assuming you've already ordered one), Microsoft promises you all your money back, and a pink Zune as soon as they can get one to you, free of charge. If you qualify for the free Zune, you will most likely get an E-mail or phone call from Microsoft.

I think they could switch manuf. lines over very quickly to red. After all, it's basically just changing out the paint.
I will go out on a limb and say this is a partial stunt to create hype about that pathetic excuse of a player (yes I hate the Ipod too).

new Zune is. It is better in all respects from the interface to the marketplace and WAY more durable than my iPod.
Zune FTW.
personaly i like the samsung YP-u3 and other YP- seirse players, they play more formats like vorbis ;)
if you look. the new zunes are bringing up the sells alittle bit
iriver h10, these units play EEVERY FORMAT, have steller fetures, and u can upgrade the HDD pretty damn easly, my buddy got his h10 from ebay with a dead hdd for 20bucks, he grabbed a 160gb micro/mini hdd that would fit, we slaped it in, used the iriver software iriver sent us and BAM back up and running with 4-8x the orignal space!!!!
no 3rd party software needed, just plug it in, drag and drop ur files on it and done :)
I got my g/f a Zune for X-mas to replace her failing I-Pod with that damn sad ipod icon! That was the third replacement in a year...one overheated and stopped responding, one stopped communicating w/the pc and the last one just had ipod icon...
The zune has been great, the software is miles ahead of iTunes...never again will I install such a bloated waste of software on my PC...the Zune software is simple, nice looking and gets the job done. But everyone has their experiences and opinions..and there are other options like ChillyMyst points out. But I do give MS a thumbs up on the Zune as it has performed as expected.
