Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 5 Released

Mozilla announced Firefox 3 Beta 5 today, intended for developer testing and community feedback. Beta 5 includes new features as well as dramatic improvements to performance, memory usage and speed.
  • Improvements to the user interface based on user feedback, including changes to the look and feel on Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X and Linux.
  • Changes and fixes for new features such as the location bar autocomplete, bookmark backup and restore, full page zoom, and others, based on feedback from our community.
  • Fixes and improvements to platform features to improve security, web compatabilty and stability.
  • Continued performance improvements: changes to our JavaScript engine as well as profile guided optimization continues to improve performance over previous releases as measured by the popular SunSpider test from Apple, and in the speed of web applications like Google Mail and Zoho Office.

Got it a couple hours ago, lol. I was just looking for the link to 3.0b4 for a friend of mine and noticed the b5. Been beating the hell out of it, can't get it to leak at all. Nice fixings. It doesn't take an hour for it to clear closed tabs out of memory now. Pretty snappy in flash stuff too.

ya i think i'll use firefox when they fix the compatibility issues with website shopping scripts. I remember ordering something from Newegg a while back when I was trying out firefox and I couldn't load one of the transaction pages b/c of the browser.

Hmm, I use newegg monthly and never have any issues.

same (except for the newegg usage), i've never had a problem with shopping scripts on firefox.

problems

there happen to be some problems with my beta 5. firstly, i can't set it as my default browser. secondly, i can't use the full version of windows live hotmail properly. i wonder whether this is just happening to me..
