NVIDIA GeForce Release 178.24 WHQL Driver Available

New GeForce release 178.24 WHQL driver is up for grabs at NVIDIA. This release is for all GeForce 6-series, 7-series, 8-series, 9-series, and 200-series GPUs. The newly-released GeForce 9-series motherboard GPUs are also supported. The 178.24 driver also includes several application compatibility fixes and some performance improvements in various game titles (read below).

Release Highlights:
  • WHQL-certified driver for GeForce 6-series, 7-series, 8-series, 9-series, and 200-series GPUs.
  • Adds support for GeForce 9800 GTX+, 9800 GT, 9500 GT and 9400 GT GPUs.
  • Adds support for NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory (this driver package installs NVIDIA PhysX System Software v8.09.04).
  • Experience GPU PhysX acceleration in several full games and demos today by downloading the GeForce Power Pack.
  • Adds support for 2-way and 3-way NVIDIA SLI technology with GeForce GTX 200-series GPUs on Intel D5400XS motherboards.
  • Supports single GPU and NVIDIA SLI technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL, including 3-way and Quad SLI technology.
    Supports CUDA.
  • Supports NVIDIA GeForce 3D Stereo Technology.

  • Supports GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring by installing NVIDIA System Tools software.

    - Single GPU increases up to 15% in Call of Duty 4
    - Single GPU increases up to 8% in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
    - 2-way SLI increases up to 7% in Bioshock DX10
    - 2-way SLI increases up to 10% in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts DX10
    - 2-way SLI increases up to 12% in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
    - 2-way SLI increases up to 10% in World in Conflict DX10

damn and I JUST updated my drivers not too long ago. I hate updating drivers. If they say there's an improvement in cod4 though, I gotta.

Thats why I updated. I checked on my old drivers before i upgraded. I got 91 FPS maxed at my 1680x1050 res. Installed new drivers and no change.

The improvement is based on 175.xx vs 178.xx if you read the small print.

IMO nothing has changed in this release other than adding some new cards into the support list.

CrAsHnBuRnXpI just downloaded their new driver the other day and now they have another one? Since when does nVIDIA release driver updates twice in one month? They usually have a trend of once every 6-8 months.
This is not nvidia releasing drivers. This is lame ass, worthless M$ "blessing" this version of the driver.

Nvidia releases TONS of drivers every month. I'm about tired of this shit.

Yep. At least that'll add new other than what these current drivers are adding. I only upgrade my drivers if there is something worthwhile, even if I'm never going to use that feature.

I downloaded the 9 series driver and it doesnt work. :confused:

Im on a laptop and I dont see any drivers for the 9 series mobile so....what the hell?
You either have to download the drivers from your laptop manufacturer, or you have to use a modified inf to install these to mobile cards. Grab modified inf's here: www.laptopvideo2go.com/

cod4 is limited to 85fps which gives 91fps if left default,
/com_maxfps 0
in the console to set it unlimited.
