Dell Expands XPS One with 24 inch Screen
Dell XPS One is the company's monolithic space-saving desktop PC model. The company introduced a new model of the PC with a 24-inch model, with updated hardware. The 24-inch XPS One packs a 1920 x 1080 pixel high-definition display, along with under-the-hood enhancements that include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor, 4 GB of memory, 320 GB of storage, and integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics. Optionally, you could choose the same model with NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512MB graphics or a Blu-ray drive. The system incudes sleek speaker units with a bundled sub-woofer, made by JBL. The system is available in three colours: Midnight Grey, Pure White and (PRODUCT) RED. Prices start at US $1,699.

Processor wise, either way you go is good enough. The iMac's processor would probably be a little better for the average users being that it is a faster clocked dual-core, and the XPS has a slower clocked Quad
The iMac only has 2GB of RAM though, which is kind of a downer, and upping it to 4GB take the price up to nearly $2,000.
The better speakers, better Blu-Ray software support, and 16:9 resolution of the XPS will make that the HTPC experience will be a little better.
The better stock graphics card of the iMac is a huge benefit though.
In the end, I think it will really come down to what the intended purpose of the computer will be. If it is going to be used as an HTPC, or even to replace someones TV(and I've seen that), then I think I would go with the XPS. If it was going to be in more of a traditional computer role, I would go with the iMac. It is an All-in-one, not a true desktop. Essentially, we are talking about an entire computer squeezed into the space only slightly larger than what an LCD monitor takes up. More than likely they could have worked in a full desktop GPU, but they didn't. Probably to save space and keep heat down.
And Apple's prices for their RAM upgrades are beyond ridiculous. Since the Intel transition, though, most RAM we can get elsewhere (for a fraction of the price) works fine in them.
Which leads to my next point, the ram is user serviceable in the iMac, so just grab the base amount, and buy your ram separate if you plan to grab an iMac.
What a rip off, as usual, dull.
I could cram the stuff in a thin case, but what for? And this thing will run hot, regardless.
There's no way apple would be getting free money for cheap hardware out of my tight bunghole. I could blow that on my car and it would be more productive than giving it to dull or apple.
There are several instances where having an XPS One over a regular computer would be benefitial.
hmmm i remember the saying for it too!
EDIT: found it..well one of them
EDIT: There, fixed it.
its just funny what fanboys do because of whatever reason, personally to me a pc is a pc and a mac is starting to become a pc, hell windows runs good on mac hardware when in actuality its still pc hardware
There are definte down sides to the All-In-One design, but there are down sides to having a seperate computer also. There are definitely situations where I can see the XPS One or iMac All-In-One design being a positive.
