The VIA C3 Processor 800A was a desktop processor with 1 core, launched in September 2001, at an MSRP of $64. It is part of the C3 lineup, using the Ezra (C5C) architecture with Socket 370. C3 Processor 800A has 64 KB of L2 cache and operates at 800 MHz. VIA is building the C3 Processor 800A on a 130 nm production process using 16 million transistors. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at VIA, but at the foundry of TSMC. The multiplier is locked on C3 Processor 800A, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 8 W, the C3 Processor 800A consumes extremely little energy. For communication with other components in the computer, C3 Processor 800A uses a PCI-Express N/A connection. Although the processor doesn't come with integrated graphics, certain motherboards with compatible chipsets can provide this capability.
