Ultrawides are an extremely niche concept that won't stick around for long, they're reject panels from 16:9 TV's, with the dead pixels cut off
you can make one 4K display or four 1080p displays from the same stretch of panel off the assembly line (The joys of working in a textiles factory years ago, i know how the basics work for this stuff) - or if you've got a row of dead pixels you can cut an in between size and get 2 or 3 ultrawides out of what could have been four 4K displays
It also lets them use older HDMI and DP ports they get cheaper, and use the lower bandwidth to run higher refresh rates
Seeing how they're really flawed for gameplay too with so few games actually supporting them properly (no, zooming in and giving you less vertical is not the same as giving you more horizontal) it's not something anyones going to care about other than people who've fallen for marketing
Eesh of course i reply to that, and the next page slaps it below someone elses ultrawide. Hating the tech doesn't mean i intended to diss your purchase,
