Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE Technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SK Telecom and SK Enmove to collaborate on advancing AI Data Center (AIDC) and high-performance computing (HPC) while accelerating the adoption of liquid cooling technology in next-generation data centers.
This strategic partnership sets the stage to nurture and develop high-performance, energy-efficient, and sustainable data center solutions.

Performance AI servers, liquid cooling technologies, and modular AI clusters to support SK's various business units, including:

• SK Telecom: Strengthening AIDC infrastructure to support next-generation data centers
• SK Enmove: Advancing liquid cooling technologies to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in data centers

Intel is reportedly bringing Application Optimization (APO) to its 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake" and 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" processors after all, PC Gamer reports. APO is currently restricted to 14th Gen Core i9 and Core i7 "Raptor Lake Refresh" processors, and the upcoming 14th Gen HX Core i9 and Core i7 mobile processors based on this silicon. An extension of the Dynamic Tuning Technology (DTT), APO is an application-specific scheduler optimization that makes hardware resources of Intel's Hybrid processors "correctly" available to the application. This requires Intel to study the application itself, and validate its optimization on a per-processor model basis (which is Intel's explanation as to why it isn't available across all its Hybrid processors). On optimized games—of which there are currently 7—APO is found to offer frame rate uplifts ranging between 10% to 16%. At this point we don't know exactly which other 12th and 13th Gen processors Intel plans to extend APO to, but it's likely only to the Unlocked K or KF SKUs, as PC Gamer notes.

Intel Application Performance Optimization (APO) is a unique feature that sets 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" processors apart from 13th Gen "Raptor Lake," despite the two being practically the same microarchitecture. APO is software-based, application-specific processor optimization that is found to offer an up to 16% performance boost in "Metro Exodus," and an up to 13% boost in "Rainbow Six: Siege." These are the only two games that Intel has released APO optimizations for, and for now, APO is only supported on the Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF. Hardware Unboxed learned that while the company might bring APO to more 14th Gen Core processor models in the near future; it won't make it to 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" and older 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake."

APO is an extension of Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology framework that provides a greater degree of handholding for the OS scheduler, to give a specific application the best possible allocation of hardware system resources. For Intel to release APO profiles to new games, it needs extensive testing and validation specific to processor models and the applications themselves, which is probably why the company is limiting APO to only its current 14th Gen processors, and only specific processor models within the lineup. According to the discovery made by @ghost_motley on X/Twitter, we have information that MSI is starting to roll out BIOS updates to accommodate Intel's Application Optimization called APO shortly. This update, however, comes with significant restrictions. Intel APO, designed to enhance performance, is exclusively compatible with 14th Gen Intel CPUs, leaving owners of previous-generation Intel processors, mainly the closely comparable 13th Gen, without this benefit. Intel's APO is an extension of its Dynamic Tuning Technology (DTT) specifically for gaming. It is available on select 14th Gen Core processors like the i9-14900K/KF, enhancing workload distribution across hardware resources like P-cores and optimizing them for peak frequencies.

As noted, the current rollout of Intel APO support is limited, namely to the Intel Core i7-14700K, i7-14700KF, i9-14900K, and i9-14900KF, excluding the Core i5 series. This omission is significant given APO's focus on boosting gaming performance, a feature that would be highly beneficial to Core i5 users. However, the feature is currently supported by only two games: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and Metro Exodus. The frame rate improvements in Rainbow can be as high as 13% while also boosting Metro Exodus FPS by 16%. Whether we will see more APO-optimized games or not, owners of MSI motherboards have received their updates and are ready to enjoy the FPS increase.
