Antec Unveils High Current Pro Platinum Grid Series PSUs

Antec unveiled the first of its "smart" PSUs that rival Corsair AXi line, the High Current Pro Platinum Grid. The PSU plugs into your motherboard over a vacant USB 2.0/1.1 header, and interfaces with Antec Grid, a software that lets you monitor and log the unit's overall efficiency, various power domains, rails, temperatures, fan-speeds. It lets you override the unit's fan-speed curve, and monitor temperature over four sensors, reading from four key zones of the unit. Innards of these 80 Plus Platinum-certified PSUs are otherwise identical to the High Current Pro Platinum series launched last year, and are available in identical high-Wattage variants: 750W, 850W, 1000W, 1200W, and 1300W. These PSUs feature fully modular cabling, the 750W variant is ideal for gaming PC builds with up to two graphics cards, the 850W and 1000W three, and the others four. The two build over their Series 4 predecessors with more powerful pumps, and new high-airflow fans that focus airflow through the radiator. The fan's motor doubles up as the pump's, and so the air and coolant flow are in perfect proportion. The H2O 650 features a 120 x 120 size radiator with a single fan, while the H2O 1250 doubles the dissipation area with a larger 240 x 120 radiator, that uses two of those fans. The two ship with support for the latest CPU socket types, including LGA115x, LGA1366, LGA2011, AM3+/AM3, and FM2/FM1.

The case below is pictured with lime green highlights, we suspect more highlight color options could be in the works.

Antec Rolls Out GX700 Case

Antec rolled out the GX700, which it touts as a "rugged" case, which could be explained by the generous use of steel in the front-panel, such as 5.25-inch bay doors (not spacers), and fan intake. The ATX mid-tower may not feature detachable drive cages, but claims sufficient room (29.5 cm or 11.5-inch) room for graphics cards. It features four 5.25-inch bays, which are covered with individual bay doors, and five 3.5-inch bays that can each hold 2.5-inch drives. Its motherboard tray features cutouts at the right spots. Cooling includes two 140 mm top exhaust fans (which can be swapped for a 240 mm-long radiator), two 120 mm front intakes (optional), a 120 mm rear exhaust, and provision for two 120 mm side intakes. Measuring 500 mm (H) x 200 mm (W) x 450 mm (D), it weighs about 6.3 kg. Its front-panel includes two each of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0/1.1 ports.
