BenQ Intros nScreen i91 All-in-One PC

BenQ introduced its newest product: the nScreen i91 All-in-One PC. The PC uses a monolithic design with the head-unit housing the system and a 19 inch 16:9 widescreen HD dislpay. For a change, BenQ opts for the AMD Yukon-based Sempron 210U processor instead of Intel Atom. Other pieces of hardware include 1 GB of DDR2 memory, 160 GB of storage space, a card-reader and built-in 1.3 MP webcam.

The bottom-right of the screen holds a rotary-switch that controls volume and power, TV-style. BenQ rates this PC to consume up to 80% less power in comparison to conventional desktop PCs, with its consumption rated at around 30W. The company is planning to make something similar using Intel's Atom processor. This nScreen i91 will be available at around $512 from the end of this month in Asian markets.

NVIDIA Pioneers New Hybrid Graphics for Select Notebooks

Notebook PC makers and users desire the realism and performance of a discrete graphics processing unit (GPU), but they still demand maximum battery life. Now Sony, Fujitsu Siemens, and BenQ have announced the availability of notebooks that let users dynamically switch between a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GPU and Intel Centrino 2 integrated graphics without rebooting, giving users the choice of more visual computing performance or reducing power demands to extend battery life.

All GeForce 9M Series GPUs support the hybrid graphics feature, but the notebook must be designed to support the technology. The hybrid graphics feature is currently available in the following new notebook models:

BenQ Launches 18.5-inch 16:9 720p LCD Monitors

Monitor manufacturer BenQ marked the end of this week with two new 16:9 aspect ratio PC monitors. BenQ's E900HD/HDA and G900HD/HDA both utilize 18.5-inch panel that boasts 1366x768 16:9 wide resolution, exactly the same as the one used in modern 720p-capable HDTVs. These monitors are better-suited for watching HD content, because they remove the black bars you see on other non 16:9 monitors when watching high definition video files. BenQ reports that both monitors have 2-lamp backlight design, 5ms response time, a 300-nit brightness, 10,000:1 DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) and 170/160 (L/R;U/D) viewing angles. BenQ's exclusive Senseye+Photo Image Technology which delivers five pre-set modes for your everyday needs is also incorporated in both models. Also BenQ G900HD adds stereo speakers and a headphone jack in the mix. Finally both monitors allow DVI (with HDCP) and VGA connections.

BenQ Launches X Series Monitors

HTPC Or Joybook ?

BenQ unveiled its latest Notebook named the Joybook R56. The R56 is using the Intel Santa Rosa platform, in this case a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo running on a PM965 motherboard. In the graphics department an GeForce 8400M G is responsible for delivering full 1080p full high definition signal via HDMI a rather usefull feature for people that may want to combine an laptop with an HTPC system. The R56 has also an eSATA port for rapid data transfer as well two speakers joined by a 3W subwoofer, as well as noise and echo cancellation software. Finally the R56 features also include 802.11a/g/n wireless, an 8x Super Multi Drive, and up to 2GB of RAM. According to sources the price tag for this beauty will range from $1999.00 from the base system to $2999.00 for the high end.

BenQ to Become Qisda

In order to reconstruct its business and reduce 40% of its capital BenQ will change the company's official English name to Qisda. BenQ's Chinese name will also be changed from "Jia Da" to "Jias Da" (transliterated from Chinese). The new names (Chinese and English) will be effective on September 1, 2007. Qisda will mainly focus on LCD monitors, projectors, MFPs (multi-function peripherals) and handset ODM/OEM businesses. BenQ will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Qisda and will keep BenQ as its brand name. The own-brand product lines will remain the same as now, covering wireless communication products, mobile phones, LCD monitors, LCD TVs, Joybook notebooks, optical storage products, MFPs and scanners.

BenQ Introduces New FP93GW/FP93GWa LCD Monitors

BenQ today introduced two additions to its 19-inch LCD monitor lineup - the BenQ FP93GW/FP93GWa. Both monitors feature a 16:10 wide screen, a super slim 12mm side bezel design, an ultra-fast 5ms response time and BenQ's exclusive Senseye+photo technology. The Senseye+photo technology transmits colors through the sRGB color gamut, providing consistent and accurate color reproduction whether on camera, monitor, printer or other devices. The two monitors also feature a high contrast ratio of 700:1 and a brightness of 300 cd/m2. The BenQ FP93GW LCD monitor is equipped with both traditional D-Sub and next-generation DVI input support, while the FP93GWa comes equipped with analog input only. The BenQ FP93GW LCD monitor will be available in Asia in March and the FP93GWa will be available in Asia in early April.

BenQ Unveils Ideal Display for Gamers


BenQ added today the new FP241VW LCD monitor to its product line. The FP241VW features sleek exterior design, BenQ's exclusive Senseye+gaming technology, PerfectMotion dynamic video processing technology that effectively eliminates ghosting and motion blurs, HDMI interface and an ultra-fast 12ms MPRT (Motion Picture Response Time). Other specifications include 1920x1200 resolution, 0.270 pixel pitch, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178/178(CR>=10) H/V viewing angles. The FP241VW fully supports video resolution of 1080p and features HDMI interface which allows easy connection to HD enabled equipment such as HD DVD players, and game consoles. BenQ recently introduced two additions to its award-winning LCD monitor lineup, the 17-inch BenQ FP73G S and the 19-inch BenQ FP93G S LCD monitor, featuring a super slim bezel design, an ultra fast 5ms response time and Senseye+Photo technology. The BenQ FP73G S/FP93G S features the enhanced Senseye+Photo technology, which transmits consistent colors through the sRGB color gamut, providing consistent and accurate color reproduction. With Senseye+Photo, the photos on the screen and on print outs will always be consistent in colors. The BenQ FP73G S/FP93G S offer an ultra-fast 5ms response time, high contrast ratio of 700:1 and a brightness of 300 cd/m2. Both monitors are also equipped traditional D-Sub and DVI inputs.

BenQ enters the MP3 player market with MusiQ players

These MusiQ MP3 players are designed to directly compete with the iPod Shuffle. The Steel Wing version of MusiQ, pictured below, comes with either 512 or 1024 MB of onboard memory. It also comes with an SD slot to increase storage, a USB port to transfer music and recharge the battery, and a necklace loop. The MusiQ player is made out of an aluminum-magnesium alloy. The MusiQ player will be available in China on December 15th, and there is no word on when the players will be released for the rest of the world.
