Wieland Pumpless AIO CPU Cooler Tested

Wieland AIO CPU cooler is a prototype closed-loop liquid CPU cooler that lacks a pump, or any form of active coolant flow between the heat-source (the CPU block), and the sink (the radiator). The cooler works on the principle of thermosiphon, where the temperature differential between the source and sink cause coolant flow. This is essentially how solar water heaters work, as they drive coolant (water) between the heating panels and a storage tank. It's not like the cooler is without any moving parts, the radiator still needs ventilation from fans.

Der8auer tested a prototype Wieland cooler, and compared its cooling performance to that of a typical 240 mm AIO CLC (with a pump), on a machine with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor with a 170 W TDP. During a 20-minute Cinebench R23 multithreaded stress test, the 240 mm AIO held temperatures to around 70 °C, while the Wieland AIO managed 78 °C. The power draw with the regular 240 mm AIO was higher, as the processor probably utilized the lower temperature to hold onto higher boost frequencies.

Arctic Liquid Freezer III AIO CPU Cooler Pictured

Arctic is giving finishing touches to its new Liquid Freezer III all-in-one liquid CPU cooler. Designed almost entirely in-house by Arctic, the cooler features a few unique design improvements over its predecessor, the Liquid Freezer II series. To begin with, the pump-block features a unique design resembling an aircraft turbofan engine intake. In the previous generations of Liquid Freezer, the VRM area ventilation fan appeared suspended on top of the pump-block, like it's a secondary fixture. Here, the fan is located inside top vent of the pump-block, and guides all its airflow laterally, providing some airflow to your CPU VRM and memory areas. The pump is located adjacent to this fan.

There are three color trims with four size variants, each. The color trims include White + ARGB, Black + ARGB, and Black sans lighting. In the White + ARGB and Black + ARGB variants, the lighting includes an addressable RGB LED element on the pump-block, with the fan vent serving as an LED diffuser; and each of the included fan having lighting of its own. Size variants for each of the three trims include 240 (240 mm x 120 mm); 280 (280 mm x 140 mm); 360 (360 mm x 120 mm); and 420 (420 mm x 140 mm). Arctic has made improvements to the radiator design, to extend its finnage (heat dissipation surfare area) to the edges of the frame. We'll learn more detailed specs such as the cooling performance and fan specs, as we head closer to product launch.
The leaked teaser trailer for the Arctic Liquid Freezer III follows.

SilverStone Intros Hydrogon D140 ARGB CPU Cooler

SilverStone today introduced its premium air based CPU cooler, the Hydrogon D140 ARGB (model: SST-HYD140-ARGB). As its name might suggest, this is a D-type (dual fin-stack) cooler that uses fans as large as 140 mm for ventilation, and hence fits into the large+heavyweight category of air coolers, targeting the segment of the market that really wants to avoid AIO coolers. The cooler uses a mirror-finish nickel-plated copper base, through which six 6 mm-thick heatpipes pass, which skewer the two fin-stacks on either of their ends. The two fin-stacks are capped off by a top-plate.

There are two fans involved in ventilating the heatsink, meant to be installed in a push-pull configuration. The "push" fan is a 120 mm, while the "pull" fan, located between the two fin-stacks, is a larger 140 mm spinner. Both fans come with addressable RGB LED illumination, and feature hydraulic bearings. The 120 mm fan turns at speeds ranging between 500 to 2,200 RPM, pushing up to 83.68 CFM of airflow at up to 4.01 mm H₂O static pressure, and up to 35.5 dBA of noise. The 140 mm fan, on the other hand, turns between 400 to 1,750 RPM, pushing up to 93 CFM of airflow at 2.24 mm H₂O static pressure, and up to 30.8 dBA of noise. With its fans in place, the cooler measures 140 mm x 160 mm x 136 mm (WxHxD), weighing 1.22 kg. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1700, AM5, LGA1200, AM4, and LGA2066. ZALMAN Intros CNPS13X DS Black CPU Cooler

ZALMAN today introduced the CNPS13X DS Black tower-type air CPU cooler. This is essentially a variant of the CNPS13X Black that the company had launched in November 2023, but comes with two key changes. To begin with, its glossy top plate not just has an ARGB-illuminated logo and diffusers to the sides, but a 2-digit 7-segment LED display, which displays CPU temperature in real-time, in degrees-Celsius. It's important to note here that the cooler doesn't have any temperature measurements on its own, but displays CPU temperature as measured by the motherboard's Super I/O chip (i.e. as it's displayed in your BIOS setup program, or reported to software). To do this, the cooler not just takes in a 4-pin PWM connection for the fan, and a 3-pin ARGB for the lighting, but also a 5-pin USB 2.0 to one of your motherboard's unused USB 2.0/1.1 headers. You then install a Win32 software that relays temperatures from your motherboard to the cooler.

The second key change is the fan. If you recall, the original CNPS13X Black came with a non-illuminated fan with matte-black impeller. The new CNPS13X DS Black comes with a illuminated fan, with a white impeller, and addressable RGB LEDs studded in the fan hub. The fan's specs aren't any different from those on the original's fan; and there are no other design changes. A 1 g sachet of ZM-STC8 thermal paste comes included. The cooler measures 135 mm x 79 mm x 159 mm (WxDxH), weighing a little over 800 g. The company didn't reveal pricing.

The Mugen 6 features chrome finished aluiminium fins and nickel-plated copper heatpipes; while the Mugen 6 Black Edition is a more premium variant, with all-black fins, heatpipes, and two included fans for push-pull ventilation, instead of just one in the Mugen 6.

Both coolers feature a large aluminium fin-stack, to which heat drawn from a nickel-plated copper base is conveyed by six 6 mm-thick heatpipes. This is ventilated by a 120 mm Scythe Wonder Tornado 120 PWM fan that features a fluid-dynamic bearings, turns at speeds of up to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 60.29 CFM of airflow, with up to 2.45 mm H₂O static pressure, and up to 26.88 dBA noise output. The Black Edition includes two of these. With the fan(s) in place, the Mugen 6 measures 132 mm x 106 mm x 154.5 mm (WxDxH), weighing 1.01 kg; while the Mugen 6 Black Edition measures 132 mm x 132 mm x 154.5 mm, weighing 1.2 kg. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1700, AM5, LGA1200, and AM4. The company didn't release pricing information.

Lamptron ST060 Dual-Tower Air Cooler Sports Full HD 6-inch Screen

CaseKing.de has started to sell a gigantic Lamptron ST060 dual-tower CPU air cooler for €299.90 (~$325) with VAT added. Many PC hardware news sites have predicted that this sizable—153 × 152 × 120 mm (W x H x D)—cooling solution is worthy of taking on similarly proportioned competition. CaseKing's listing includes some hype material: "(the ST060) offers extremely high cooling performance thanks to its six heat pipes and two PWM RGB fans. With a 260 W TDP, the cooler is also very quiet and has immense cooling reserves for overclocked CPUs and, despite its size, can be installed even with the mainboard installed." The integrated 6-inch 1920x1080 screen is the ST060's other selling point—DeepCool's (recently TPU reviewed) AK620 dual-tower cooler sports a large-ish top-mounted mini monitor, although its functionality is quite limited. Lamptron states that their new model is prepped for full AIDA64 integration; a license for this software suite is bundled in.

The integrated screen requires connection to USB Type-A and HDMI ports—perhaps a major annoyance—fortunately mini USB to USB and HDMI cables are included in the box. Additionally, software and digital instructions are uploaded onto a bundled USB-A flash drive. The base Lamptron ST060 model is joined by ARGB equipped alternatives—CaseKing has a product page for a black fan version (LAMP-ST060AB, also priced at €299.90), but it is not available to purchase yet. Tom's Hardware believes that a white fan model (LAMP-ST060AW) is also incoming—they documented some basic aesthetic differences: "In addition to the fans being different, the ARGB versions have a silver heatsink as opposed to the black heatsink on the regular version." Lamptron's ST060 air cooler appears to be an Intel socket-centric product, with support for LGA1366, LGA1200, LGA115x, LGA1700, and LGA2011. Team Red enthusiasts will be disappointed about compatibility being limited to AM4. Overclocking.com expressed surprise regarding Lamptron's re-emergence with new products—many assumed that the company was in a dormant state for a long time.

Scythe GT360 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler with a Unique Design Pictured

Here are the first pictures of the GT360, a unique new AIO liquid CPU cooler by Scythe, thanks to HXL. The cooler is not part of Scythe Japan's product stack, or found in Western markets, but is probably part of Scythe China. The Scythe GT360 looks like a premium almost DIY liquid cooling loop. Its design involves a CPU water block, an in-line pump, a 360 mm radiator that integrates a reservoir; and a trio of high static-pressure fans. The most interesting aspect is the top-facing fittings on the water block, which is a giveaway that Scythe didn't source this cooler from any AIO cooler OEM, but designed it on its own. These pictures surfaced on Chinese social media, there are no official product pages, so we don't have any specifications, yet.
