Thermaltake Intros Allways Control Notebook Cooler

Lepa Unveils HDB240 Liquid CPU Cooler

Lepa showed off its premium closed-loop liquid CPU cooler, the HDB240. Capable of handling thermal loads of up to 300W, the cooler uses a pump+block assembly piped to a reservoir+radiator. A 25 mm-thick 240 x 120 mm radiator, and two Lepa 70D 120 mm fans come included. Sadly for people looking forward to the 220W AMD FX-9000, the HDB240 comes with an LGA retention module, which supports LGA2011 and LGA1150/LGA1155/LGA1156 only.

Noctua Unveils Prototype CPU Cooler with Active Noise-cancellation

A star attraction at Noctua's Computex booth was a prototype CPU air cooler featuring an active noise-cancellation technology co-developed by RotoSub. Pictured below, this aluminum monstrosity looks like a huge fanless cubical fin-stack, but in reality, is a D-type (twin-tower) heatsink with a large fan between its two stacks, equipped with active noise cancellation device. It works much in the same way as noise-cancellation in premium headphones and smartphones. A mic inputs noise from the cooler, speakers give out the same noise with a phase difference, this causes destructive interference between noise coming from the speakers and the cooler, and noise is reduced. The speakers are positioned along each of the two fin-stacks. The mics are just as discrete. Noctua stuck a mic into the test chamber with the cooler running, and visitors couldn't hear a thing, at least nothing that's louder than the morning crowds at Nangang, after the event has been opened up to the general public. The technology 'sounds' promising.

Xigmatek Orthrus is a C-type CPU Cooler of a Different Kind

While Xigmatek's Boreas and Janus are textbook C-type heatsinks, the company let its imagination take a stroll with the new Orthrus (SD1467). The design starts off with a conventional copper base with HDT, and seven 6 mm-thick heat pipes taking flight, the central ones go to a large aluminum fin stack, while the peripheral ones go to a smaller fin stack located below the larger one, and arranged in an incline. The larger one is ventilated by a 25 mm-thick 140 mm PWM fan, which spins around 800 to 1,600 RPM; while the smaller one uses an 80 mm PWM fan, spinning at 2,000 RPM. A black ABS shroud covers the heatsink from the top, so you don't feel like Victor Frankenstein each time you take a peek into your case. The cooler measures 146 x 200 x 165 mm (WxDxH), weighing about 875 g. It can handle thermal loads as high as 180W. All modern CPU socket types are supported.

Cooler Master Hyper 103 CPU Cooler Pictured

Cooler Master showed off its Hyper 103 compact tower-type CPU cooler at Computex. Pictured below, the cooler is ideal for single-fan configurations, and features a stack of trapezoid aluminum fins, to which heat is transferred by three 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes. This stack is ventilated by a custom-design 92 mm PWM-controllable fan. The fan retention lets you swap out the included fan with any other standard 92 mm one. The stock fan spins at 800 - 2,200 RPM, pushing up to 43.1 CFM of air, with up to 30 dBA noise. The cooler weighs about 580 g (500 g heatsink with 80 g fan). It measures 108 x 89.5 x 138.5 mm. All modern CPU socket types are supported, including LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA1366, AM3+/AM3, and FM2/FM1.

Enermax Unveils Thermal Conductive Coated CPU Coolers

After the successful launch of the ETS-T40 series, Enermax now presents a new line of CPU Coolers in the series, the ETS-T40-Black Twister (ETS-T40-BK) and ETS-T40-White Cluster (ETS-T40-W). The new lineup not only inherits the superior performance of the ETS-T40 series with patented technologies, but also features an attractive heat sink decked out in a stunning coat, increasing the options and appeal of the ETS-T40 series family.

Black Twister and White Cluster are available in midnight black and arctic white colors, respectively. Both models employ a unique TCC (Thermal Conductive Coating) to create better velocity of thermal transference and prevent oxidation on the contact surface. ETS-T40-Black Twister features a circular blue LED PWM fan for a mesmerizing presentation. On the other hand, ETS-T40-White Cluster is equipped with the white LED fan with the unique PWM APS (Adjustable Peak Speed) control which offers 3 peak RPM options to satisfy the needs of consumers who prefer manual adjustability.

Akasa Shows Off Venom IV CPU Cooler

Akasa showed off its Venom IV CPU cooler, which keeps up with the basic design elements of the Venom series, while not necessarily appearing as big as older Venom series CPU coolers. The cooler features an aluminum fin-stack design, which uses asymmetric shape and planes, to dissipate heat better; and four 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes that fan-out through the entire length of the fin-stack, rather than clump up at the edges, to dissipate heat more uniformly. The cooler ships with one 120 mm S-flow fan, and a retention module that supports all modern CPU socket types, including, LGA115x, LGA1366, LGA2011, AM3+/AM3, and FM2/FM1.

Titan Launches Dragonfly CPU Coolers

Taiwanese PC cooling company Titan expanded its Dragonfly line of low-noise CPU coolers with two additions, the Dragonfly 3 (model: TTC-NC85TZ/RB) and Dragonfly 4 (TTC-NC95TZ/RB), pictured in that order. Both coolers are built in the aluminum fin tower-type form-factors, with heat pipes fanning out throughout the stacks, rather than passing through its edges. This ensures a more uniform heat transfer to the stack. The two use exposed copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the CPU.

Measuring 100 x 71.4 x 150 mm, the Dragonfly 3 uses three heat pipes, and a 95 mm PWM-controlled fan to ventilate its fin-stack. The fan has a wide speed range, spanning from 210 to 2,100 RPM, with noise levels as low as 5 dBA, and as high as 28.6 dBA. The Dragonfly 4, on the other hand, measures 120 x 71.4 x 160 mm, uses four heat pipes, and a larger 120 mm fan that spins at 150 to 1,500 RPM, with noise levels under 5 dBA at its lowest operational speed, and 28.6 dBA at its highest. Both coolers support modern CPU socket types, including LGA115x, LGA775, LGA1366, LGA2011, AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2, and FM2/FM1. The company didn't release pricing or availability information.

Xigmatek Announces Janus Low-profile CPU Cooler

Xigmatek rolled out the Janus low-profile CPU Cooler. It uses a C-type aluminum fin-array design. From a mirror-polished nickel-plated copper base, six 6 mm-thick heat pipes convey heat to an aluminum fin-stack arranged along the plane of the motherboard. It is ventilated by two fans arranged in a top-flow push-pull configuration. The top fan is a 10 mm-thick 120 mm spinner, while the bottom one is a 15 mm-thick 80 mm one. The bigger fan spins at 800-1200 RPM, pushing up to 38.42 CFM of air; while the smaller one does around 2000 RPM, pushing 13.53 CFM. Measuring 120 x 110 x 45 mm (WxDxH), the Janus weighs about 430 g. It supports most modern CPU socket types, including Intel LGA1150, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA2011, LGA1366, and LGA775; and AMD AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2, FM2/FM1.

Scythe Releases the Ashura CPU Cooler

Japanese manufacturer Scythe, known for high performance CPU Coolers and innovative PC accessories, is hereby announcing the brand new Ashura CPU Cooler.

Scythe Also Intros Grand Kama Cross 2 CPU Cooler

In addition to the Mugen 2, Scythe announced second-generation Grand Kama Cross CPU cooler. Grand Kama Cross 2 (model: SCKC-3000) retains the unique top-flow design of its predecessor, which uses two large aluminum fin stacks arranged along inclines in opposite directions, which are ventilated by a fan from an angle, ensuring high turbulence, and with it, heat dissipation.

With Grand Kama Cross 2, Scythe redesigned the fins to line up straight under the fan's air flow, so air is guided into the stack, and not repelled. The fins later cut an angle, increasing turbulence, improving heat dissipation. Heat from the CPU is drawn by a nickel-plated copper base, from which four copper heat pipes convey it to the two fin stacks. A 140 mm Scythe Falcon PWM fan handles air-flow. It spins at speeds ranging from 500 to 1,300 RPM, pushing 37.37 to an impressive 97.18 CFM of air. Like the Mugen 4, this cooler comes with HPMS, a new retention system that takes fewer steps to install, and supports the new LGA1150 CPU socket. Slated for April 24, it is priced at 4,980¥ (US $50).

Scythe Rolls Out Mugen 4 CPU Cooler

Scythe rolled out the fourth generation Mugen CPU cooler, in its home market of Japan. Mugen 4 (model: SCMG-4000), builds on the design of its predecessor with a feature it calls TMAPS (three-dimensional multiple airflow pass-through structure), a fin stack arrangement that works to improve air-flow and heat-dissipation to the flowing air. Another abbreviation Scythe is throwing at you is HPMS (hyper-precision mounting system), a new retention module that takes fewer steps to install, and supports all modern CPU socket types, including the upcoming Intel socket LGA1150, on which desktop Core "Haswell" processors will be based.

Scythe Mugen 4 retains the unique jagged aluminum fins of its predecessor, it is an aluminum fin tower type CPU cooler, which uses six 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes to convey heat to the stack. Heat is drawn from a nickel-plated copper base. A Falcon 120 mm PWM fan guides air through the heatsink, which spins at speeds ranging from 400 to 1,400 RPM, pushing 20.7 to 79 CFM of air. Measuring 130 x 88 x 160 mm, the cooler weighs about 625 g. Slated for April 24, it is priced at 4,980¥ (US $50).

GELID Launches SlimHero Silent Low-Profile CPU Cooler

Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions unveils the SlimHero which is a low profile CPU Cooler of its SILENT product line. The SlimHero features 4 sintered power heatpipes with a silent and slim 120 mm fan. The copper heatpipes ensure maximum heat transfer from CPU to the aluminum fins. The heatsink is built in a unique shape to lower the air flow resistance. The cooler can be mounted on each directions of the AMD socket.

The low profile cooler SlimHero is especially designed for compact PC cases where space can be the key problem. With a total height of 5.9 cm this cooler can fit almost all smaller cases and is able to cool up to 136W (TDP).

Noctua Introduces NH-U12S and NH-U14S Single Tower CPU Coolers

Noctua today presented the latest models of its award-winning NH-U series of quiet single tower CPU coolers: Whereas the NH-U12S comes equipped with the renowned NF-F12 120 mm fan and succeeds the highly popular NH-U12P SE2, the NH-U14S is the series' first 140 mm model and uses the new NF-A15 140 mm fan. Both models feature a new, slim design that ensures easy RAM access and maximum compatibility with tall memory modules.

"The original NH-U12 and NH-U9 were the first Noctua products we brought to the market and the NH-U series has been a cornerstone of our success ever since", explains Mag. Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "Representing the next generation of this venerable legacy, the new NH-U12S and NH-U14S are the result of almost 10 years of continuous development and optimisation. Both models mark a significant improvement in performance, convenience and compatibility."

Evercool Announces HPR 9225EA CPU Cooler

Evercool announced the HPR 9225EA entry-level tower-type CPU cooler. It uses a stack of 43 aluminium fins, to which heat is conveyed by two 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes, which make direct contact with the CPU at the base. The stack is ventilated by a 92 mm fan that spins at speeds up to 2,200 RPM, pushing 35.6 CFM of air, with 26.3 dBA noise output. Measuring 97 x 73 x 118 mm (WxDxH), the cooler weighs about 400 g. It supports most modern CPU socket types, with the exception of LGA2011. Among the socket types supported are LGA115x, LGA775, AM3+/AM3/AM2+, and FM2/FM1. The company did not give out pricing information.

Cooler Master TPC 612 and V8 GTS CPU Coolers, and JetFlo 120 Fans Pictured

Cooler Master showed off a trio of air-cooling solutions at CeBIT, which includes the TPC 612 and V8 GTS CPU coolers, and JetFlo 120 case fans. The TPC 612 is a compacted version of the TPC 812. It retains the design concept of its older sibling, that of a heatpipe-fed aluminum fin stack that also uses a vapor-chamber tube for more efficient heat transfer; while using just four heat pipes, and a more compact vapor-chamber tube. Measuring 145 x 97 x 161.6 mm (WxDxH, including the fan), it weighs about 640 g. It uses a single 120 mm PWM fan that spins in the range of 600 to 2,000 RPM, pushing 24.9 to an impressive 82.9 CFM of air. The TPC 612 is compatible with all modern CPU socket types.

Moving on, the V8 GTS is Cooler Master's latest monstrosity, one that is designed to take on pre-assembled closed-loop liquid CPU coolers. It uses a triple independent aluminum fin stack design, which is ventilated by a pair of 140 mm fans. An unknown (we're guessing six) number of 6 mm-thick nickel plated copper heat pipes convey heat from the base through the three fin stacks. Measuring a whopping 154 x 149 x 160 mm, it weighs 1,140 g. Each of its two 140 mm fans uses a 4-pin PWM connection, spins at 600 to 1,600 RPM, pushing 28 to 82 CFM of air. Lastly, Cooler Master showed off its JetFlo 120, a neat little 120 mm spinner featuring PWM, 800 to 2,000 RPM speed range, and up to 85 CFM air-flow.

Be Quiet! Unveils Shadow Rock 2 CPU Cooler

At its CeBIT booth, German PC peripherals maker Be Quiet! unveiled the Shadow Rock 2, its latest high-performance air CPU cooler. Pictured below, the Shadow Rock 2 uses a fairly cube-shaped (120 x 120 x 120 mm) aluminum fin stack with jagged and curved edges; through which four 8 mm-thick copper heatpipes pass; which draw heat from a copper base. A 120 mm Shadow Wings fan comes included. The Shadow Rock 2 is expected to be priced around €45.

Corsair Introduces the Hydro Series H110 and H90 Liquid CPU Coolers

Corsair, designer of high-performance PC hardware components, today announced the Hydro Series H110 and H90 liquid CPU coolers. With huge radiator cooling surfaces areas of 280 mm and 140 mm respectively and specially designed 140 mm low-speed, high static pressure fans, the new coolers deliver superior CPU cooling and quieter operation than smaller 120 mm designs.

The Hydro Series H110 is a low-noise, high-performance liquid CPU cooler with a double-length 280 mm by 140 mm radiator. The H110 radiator's large surface area provides more contact room for heat dissipation and for side-by-side mounting of dual fans. Each fan is a specially-designed low-speed 140 mm static pressure fan, which moves much more air per decibel of noise than 120 mm fans. Combined, the larger radiators and lower fan-speeds produce better performance with much lower noise levels than smaller 120 mm dual-fan coolers. The H110 fits cases with dual 140 mm top fan mounts and 20 mm screw spacing.

Swiftech to Unveil New H220 All-in-One CPU Cooler During CES 2013
