Another alternative would be for video professionals that want easy access to multiple projects, without having to access the projects over a network. JSAUX Launches its Line of Steam Deck Accessories

JSAUX has been all the rage in the world of steam deck gaming recently, and rightly so. The renowned digital accessories brand rolled out its steam deck docking station in June and became an instant hit amongst steam deck users around the globe. Following the delay in the launch JSAUX's new accessory, the Steam Official Dock - the first third-party docking station made specifically for the steam deck - attracted attention and captured the imagination of many worldwide.

The all-new steam deck offers users multiple customisable and flexible options. Equipped with a desktop mode, the steam deck transforms into a PC gaming by connecting to a monitor or TV. The docking station also acts as a stand for the steam deck, allowing gamers to optimise their playing experience, functionality, and aesthetics by playing while standing on a table. Priced at $39.99, the steam deck docking station is an affordable accessory for users, adding to its functional appeal. Akasa Launches the DuoDock MX Dual NVMe Dock

Drive docks can be extremely handy, especially the kind with support for two drives, as they generally allow you to duplicate your data quickly and easily. However, with a move towards M.2 drives, SATA based docks are slowly becoming less useful. Akasa has launched a solution to that problem with its new DuoDock MX, which accepts a pair of M.2 NVMe drives. The dock itself looks like a miniature drive dock with the addition of a cup-shaped lid that helps protect the drives from being touched during use. The front is host to a range of LEDs and a drive clone button, whereas around the back there's a power switch, a power connector and a USB Type-C port.

The only real downside is that Akasa has gone with a 10 Gbps PCIe to USB 3.2 bridge chip, which means that the data connection to a PC would be fairly slow by today's standards. Presumably the reason for this is to prevent the need of using some kind of heatsink on the M.2 drives, as most 20 Gbps NVMe to USB 3.2 solutions tend to require heatsinks. That said, Akasa has equipped the DuoDock MX with what the company calls an ultra-thin fan, although a picture on the company website suggests it's a small blower fan. Price-wise it's not what you'd call a bargain at £98 or around US$120, although that price includes British VAT.

Targus Launches Two Thunderbolt 3 Docks Equipped with Exceptional Speed and Resolutions

"We've designed our DOCK215 and DOCK222 to meet the demanding needs of professional content creators," says David Dorantes, director of product marketing, Targus. "With features like Thunderbolt 3 speed, up to 8K resolution, dual-monitor support, and a compact design, both docks enable creatives to stay connected, powered, and productive."

The Thunderbolt 3 DV4K Docking Station with 85 W Power Delivery (DOCK215USZ) connects a laptop to dual 4K UHD monitors at 60hz or a single 8K HDR monitor at 30hz. Packed with ports, it comes with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, as well as two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port to accommodate workspace peripherals like a mouse and keyboard, hard drive, and more. Its compact design also ensures it won't take up precious desk space for working essentials. It even comes equipped with a VESA bracket mounting provision, which allows for use of the Targus VESA Mount Bracket (ACX003GLZ - sold separately) to hold the dock behind the display for even greater space savings. DOCK215 retails for $287.99.

ASUS Intros Dual 4K USB-C Dock

ASUS today introduced the Dual 4K USB-C Dock, a device that adds connectivity to your ultraportable that only has one or two USB type-C ports. The compact docking station takes in a single USB-C connection, and puts out dual 4K-capable display outputs either encapsulated with the downstream USB-C ports, or the standard HDMI connector. There are a total of three USB downstream ports. One of these is a type-C with 10 Gbps bandwidth, the other is a USB type-C with 100 W USB-PD passthrough and 5 Gbps bandwidth; while the third one is a USB type-A with 10 Gbps bandwidth. Lastly, there's a 1 GbE wired Ethernet interface. The USB-PD passthrough port allows you to recharge your notebook while using all of the downstream connectivity. The device measures 104 mm x 44 mm x 14 mm (WxDxH), weighing 98 g. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Cougar Intros the DS10, a Multi-Port Dock with RGB

With notebooks getting slimmer and losing out on the wired I/O you want, there's a sprout in "docking stations," devices that provide many kinds of downstream wired connectivity, tapping into a single high-bandwidth upstream connection to your notebook. The DS10 from Cougar does this, except it's also targeted at gamers, with its RGB illumination. The device features a rugged, sporty design, with an illuminated infinite-mirror element on top. Unlike some other docks that use 40 Gbps Thunderbolt upstream, the DS10 relies on USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (20 Gbps), with DisplayPort passthrough, which supports up to 4K @ 60 Hz.

Downstream connectivity of the Cougar DS10 includes three USB 3.x Gen 1 (5 Gbps), one USB 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps), stereo audio with a single 4-pole headset jack, a microSD slot, a 1 Gbps Ethernet interface, two HDMI ports (each capable of 4K @ 60 Hz), and a USB-PD port capable of up to 100 W output. A button lets you toggle between lighting presets. The company didn't reveal pricing.
