ASUS dabbled with cases from time to time, and its latest creation is the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix Helios, an ATX mid-tower to go with your other ROG Strix-branded hardware. Built with brushed-metal finished steel and tinted tempered glass, the Strix Helios features an elaborate aRGB LED illuminated front embellishment that includes the ROG logo, which can be directly plugged in to the 3-pin aRGB header of your motherboard. It also comes with four USB 3.1 front-panel ports, one of which is type-C, all of which plug into your motherboard's standard USB 3.1 headers. You also get LED and fan-controls.

Although marketed as a mid-tower, the ROG Strix Helios is large, measuring 249 mm x 564 mm x 592 mm (WxHxD), and supports E-ATX motherboards in addition to smaller form-factors. Inside, you get a horizontally partitioned layout. Storage areas include two 3.5-inch/2.5-inch trays, and four additional 2.5-inch mounts. Among the cooling features are three 140 mm front intakes, which come with three factory-fitted fans, two 140/120 mm top vents that are vacant, and a 120 mm rear exhaust, which has a factory-fitted fan. In addition to 8 expansion slots, you get 2 vertically oriented slots so you can show off your graphics card better (PCIe riser cable not included). The company didn't reveal pricing.

Raijintek today introduced the Enyo, its biggest and greatest open-frame full-tower chassis. Measuring 707 mm x 398 mm x 659 mm, this monstrosity is a capital-I shaped metal frame with floating tempered glass panels on four sides, and steel panels on two. The left side holds a vast EE-ATX capable motherboard tray and a bottom compartment for stacks of 480 mm x 120 mm radiators; while the right side holds two PSU bays, additional radiator mounts, and drive mounts.

Drives and radiators can be mounted on either sides of the case. Up to twenty three 120 mm or 140 mm fans can be mounted on this case, and you can collectively install up to three completely independent high-end DIY liquid cooling loops. The case is made of 2 mm-thick SECC steel and 3 mm-thick tempered glass. The dual-layer middle partition has passageways for cables and coolant tubes. We already covered In Win's Z-Tower PC Chassis back when it was showcased on the floor of Computex, and made it its crown jewel. In Win has now announced availability of this 8th generation Signature chassis (limited and numbered), with its 5 mm aluminum alloy.

Riotoro Morpheus GTX100 is a fascinating new case design. You can either configure it to be a space-saving ATX cubical (mini-tower) case, or enlarge it by sliding and locking the top half along rails, to convert it to an ATX mid-tower. The case features a vertically partitioned dual-chamber layout, with the motherboard tray located in the larger left-side half, and oriented upside down, BTX style.

When contracted to mini-tower proportions, the left chamber with the motherboard tray has room for standard ATX (and smaller) motherboards, up to three graphics cards that can be as long as 40 cm, CPU coolers up to 18 cm in height; while the right chamber holds two each 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drive bays, besides the PSU bay, with up to 22 cm clearance. When expanded to mid-tower proportions, you get more of everything - the left chamber now holds E-ATX motherboards and up to four 40 cm long graphics cards; while the right chamber holds four 2.5-inch bays instead of two.

The elegant curves on the front and back are the first to catch your eye. Here, the back has an additional alternative, the clean cable management away from the case. The tempered glass cover can be lifted mechanically to expose the ventilation slots. Thus, the warm air can escape directly at the top with the help of up to three 140-millimeter fans. After shutting down the system, the cover closes with a 15 second delay to drain the residual heat out of the system.

The front connectors include a reversible USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack. Up to nine fans or four radiators can be accommodated in the 915. These help, following the natural convection, to create a flow of air from bottom to top in the housing. Magnetic dust filters keep the inside dust-free and can be easily removed for cleaning.

In Win today introduced the 915, an ATX full-tower chassis. The case is available in two color options - black and silver. It's characterized by rounded front and rear panels, and tempered glass accentuating 3 mm thick anodized aluminium body panels with a matte finish. The top panel is particularly interesting: a protrusion the shape of the case from the top, which has vents along the sides, and a tempered glass top. This protrusion is mechanized, and can slide up or down at the push of a button. An RGB LED diffuser lines the top curve of the front panel, as it meets the front-panel connectivity, which includes not just HDA jacks and a pair of USB 3.1 type-A ports, but also a type-C port. A button lets you toggle between lighting presets. This LED ornament can also take input from 4-pin headers, controllable by ASUS Aura Sync software.

Internally, the In Win 915 has a somewhat conventional horizontally partitioned layout. The right side of the case (behind the motherboard tray) has a lot of crawlspace owing to the 2-inch gap between the side-panel and the motherboard tray. This side gives you access to the bottom compartment, with its four 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive trays, four 2.5-inch mounts, and the PSU bay. The left side has four additional 2.5-inch mounts along the top of the partition. The motherboard tray supports E-ATX boards, with 8 horizontal expansion slots, and 2 vertical slots (to show off your graphics card using a riser). There's room for graphics cards up to 41 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 16.8 cm in height. Ventilation includes 3x 120 mm / 2x 140 mm top exhausts, 2x 140 mm bottom intakes, and a 120 mm rear exhaust. Measuring 595 mm x 230 mm x 645 mm, it weighs about 16.4 kg. Available soon, the case could be priced upwards of $500.The video gives you a better idea of the mechanized top panel.

Phanteks also showed off its Eclipse P600S case, positioned above the P400S. It's larger than the average mid-tower, but smaller than full-towers. The case appears to share a lot of under-the-hood design with the Evolv X, and is capable of running a dual-system build, with an E-ATX primary system, and a mini-ITX secondary. The outer design is significantly different from the Evolv X, more characteristic of the Eclipse series, and lets you switch between "low-noise" and "high air-flow" modes by removing acoustic dampening material that block large fan vents along the top and front panels. You swap out the dampening material for simpler dust-filters, and load the case up with up to six 140 mm fans. All other features are nearly identical to the Evolv X. The company plans to launch this case some time later in Q3-2018.

Phanteks unveiled its next flagship chassis, the Evolv X. This dual-system chassis can simultaneously house an E-ATX motherboard, and a mini-ITX motherboard, and is ideally paired with the company's own Revolt X dual-system PSU. It retains the signature design of Phanteks' Enthoo Evolv series, but is darker, has a more premium sandblasted 3 mm-thick aluminium paneling, and a silicone RGB LED diffuser surrounding the front fascia, with addressable RGB LEDs. Storage options include either ten 3.5-inch drives over detachable drive-cages, and up to nine 2.5-inch drives mounted behind the motherboard tray.

Cooling options of the Phanteks Evolv X include three 140 mm front intakes, three 140 mm top exhausts, and a 140 mm rear exhaust. You can mount 420 mm x 140 mm radiators on the front, and 280/360 mm x 140/120 mm radiators along the top. Front panel connectivity includes a USB 3.1 type-C port, two USB 3.1 type-A, HDA jacks, and RGB LED control. The case is halfway between mid-tower and full-tower in terms of dimensions. The case is slated for release this August, priced at USD $199, or 199€.

This Computex, we are on the lookout for motherboards based on Intel Z390 and upcoming AMD chipsets such as the B450, or even the Z490; but a new X399 motherboard for the Ryzen Threadripper was the last thing we expected. Imagine our shock at the sight of the MSI MEG X399 Creation. This board has the most polarizing, in-your-face design from MSI since the mid-2000s (roller-coaster heatsinks, anyone?). The board appears to be clearly wider than ATX spec, and approaching E-ATX territory.

A humongous L-shaped heatsink dominates the bottom-right corner, cooling not just the AMD X399 chipset, but also three M.2 slots. The top-left, and far-left corners feature some of the largest CPU VRM heatsinks we've seen in a long while. The VRM heatsink extends to the left side, while the rear-I/O shroud blends into it, running the entire length of the left side. The board gives you a maximum of 7 M.2 slots. A 19-phase VRM drawing power from two 8-pin EPS connectors fuels your Threadripper. Four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, eight DDR4 DIMM slots, and the whole shebang of OC features make for the rest of it.

Building on the CORSAIR Concept Slate prototype that captured the imagination of PC enthusiasts, the Obsidian 1000D is the result of over two years of development and design to create the ultimate super-tower case. Xigmatek today rolled out the Prosper tempered glass chassis. This ATX mid-tower features 4 mm-thick tempered glass panels on four sides (front, top, and both sides), letting you show off the illuminated innards of your build. The case features a contemporary horizontally-partitioned layout, with a slightly wider crawlspace behind the motherboard tray, creating room for two 2.5-inch drive mounts. The top compartment gives you room for a motherboard that's up to E-ATX specifications in width, graphics cards up to 33 cm in length and CPU coolers up to 15.8 cm in height.

When not using up the entire motherboard tray with an E-ATX motherboard (i.e. ATX or narrower), the tray provides two additional 2.5-inch drive mounts. The bottom compartment houses your PSU and two 3.5-inch drive bays. Cooling system on the Xigmatek includes 3x 120 mm or 2x 140 mm front intakes; 3x 120 mm or 2x 140 mm top exhausts; and a 120 mm rear exhaust. Xigmatek is bundling four SC120 RGB LED fans with the case, which are driven by an internal 6-port, 4-pin fan-controller. Front-panel connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports (standard header), and HDA audio jacks. The case measures 440 mm x 202 mm x 510 mm (LxWxH). The company didn't reveal pricing.

GIGABYTE introduced the MZ30-AR0 motherboard for single-socket AMD EPYC processor-powered servers and workstations. The motherboard is built in the E-ATX form-factor, and features a single SP3r2 socket, for AMD EPYC 7000-series processors. Given that EPYC is a full-fledged SoC, the board has no chipset. An ASpeed AST2500 remote-management chip puts out basic display and IPMI features. The board draws power from two 8-pin EPS connectors, besides the 24-pin ATX. The CPU socket is flanked by 16 DDR4 DIMM slots, which support up to 512 GB of octa-channel DDR4 memory.

Expansion slots include four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 with full-time x16 wiring, one x16 with x8 wiring, and two x8 slots. Storage connectivity includes four slimSAS 12 Gb/s ports, which put out sixteen SATA 6 Gb/s ports, and a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot. Networking is care of two 10 GbE ports driven by a Broadcom BCM57810S processor, and a single GbE port. There's no onboard audio or even USB 3.1 ports.

Enermax showed off its Equilence ATX mid-tower chassis with a design focus on low noise output. The case features noise-dampening material padded along its body panels. Inside, you get room for an E-ATX motherboard, or a conventional ATX motherboard with plenty of room for your liquid-cooling setup, a horizontal dual-compartment layout which frees up room for long graphics cards; and multiple fan-mounts, including along the plane of the motherboard tray. The case offers a 3x 120 mm radiator mount along the front panel, a 2x 140 mm mount along the top panel, and a 2x 120 mm mount along the motherboard tray, besides a 140 mm rear exhaust. The front-panel I/O features LED illumination.

EVGA unveiled a formidable lineup of socket LGA2066 motherboards, based on Intel X299 Express chipset. One of the models which caught our eye is the X299 DARK. Designed for extreme overclocking, this board is halfway between ATX and E-ATX width. It draws power from an angled 24-pin ATX, an angled 6-pin PCIe, and two 8-pin EPS connectors, and conditions it for the CPU using a high-current 9-phase VRM. The CPU is wired to just four DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting quad-channel memory; and four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. The fifth x16 slot which is electrical x4 and an open-ended x4 slot; which are wired to the PCH; make for the rest of the expansion.

Storage connectivity on the EVGA X299 DARK includes a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot, two 32 Gb/s U.2 ports, and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports. USB connectivity includes two 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 (of which one is type-C), and eight USB 3.0 (six on the rear panel, two by headers). Networking includes 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.1 WLAN, a 10 GbE wired connection driven by an Intel i210-T1 controller, and a 1 GbE driven by an i219-V. The onboard audio features a Creative Sound Blaster DSP. This is one of the rare few board in which the I/O shroud extends into an integrated I/O shield, which could be useful for open-air benches.

DeepCool took to Computex 2017 with an increased offering of their PC cases. The DUKASE Liquid integrates a 240 mm radiator in its design, and includes two flow rotors. A full-sized transparent side-window ensures your case's innards (including the DUKASE Liquid's LED lighting) can be showcased for prying eyes, while an enclosed PSU space makes sure to keep most of those unsightly cables out of the field of view. The DUKASE Liquid also includes a fan controller, in the form of a dial, which can control up to three fans at the same time. It will be available for $189.99 this month.

The star attraction at In Win booth was a spherical, globe-shaped chassis called WINBOT, which is a lot larger than it looks in these pictures. Made of aluminium and molded acrylic, the case is characterized by a clear, transparent sphere, which surrounds the motherboard tray, and mounts for the PSU bay, drive bay, and a liquid-cooling setup. The case opens up like a Pokeball. Its most striking feature, however, is an in-built biometric security system, complete with facial recognition, voice recognition system, and a voice command interface. The facial recognition uses multiple cameras to map the 3D contours of a face, and can tell a real face from a picture of one. When not authenticating yourself using the Windows Hello-ready face-recognition, you can also use the cameras to take some groovy 3D selfies. Taking this thing to your next vacation, however, could be a bit of a problem.

Getting down to the brass tacks of the WINBOT as a case, there's little to wish for - you get room for an E-ATX motherboard, graphics cards up to 33 cm in length, CPU coolers 17 cm in height, multiple 2.5-inch drive mounts, and a cooling system which includes three "front" (if you can call it that) 120 mm intakes, and two 120 mm rear exhausts, with multiple radiator mounts. The front-panel connectivity includes a USB 3.1 type-C port, three USB 3.0/3.1 type-A, and HDA jacks. The case measures 700 mm x 685 mm x 648 mm (yeah, it's huge).

Colorful unveiled its flagship socket LGA2066 motherboard, the iGame X299-X. Characterized by its milky-white PCB and matching white PCH and VRM heatsinks, and I/O shroud, with red+black accents, and the opposite color combination, the board is halfway between ATX and E-ATX. It draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and 6-pin PCIe power connectors, conditioning it for the CPU with a 10-phase VRM. The socket is wired to eight DDR4 DIMM slots, and four PCI-Express 3.0 x16.

Storage connectivity on the Colorful iGame X299-X includes two 32 Gb/s M.2 slots, and six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. USB connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports on the rear panel (including one type-C), ten USB 3.0 ports (six on the rear panel), and input-device optimized USB 2.0 and PS/2 ports. The board features two GbE interfaces driven by Intel controllers, and high-grade onboard audio with a 120 dBA SNR CODEC, and audio-grade capacitors.

At CES 2017, Lian-Li showcased their latest, upcoming additions to their product lines: from a standing desk to numerous computer cases and an external RAID enclosure, there was something for every taste.

First, Lian Li's latest addition to their standing desk line of products: dubbed the DK-05, this standing desk allows the user to install two different systems (supporting E-ATX motherboards) at the same time, something that its predecessor was unable to do. Lian Li suggests that the chassis could house both a file server and a gaming computer, all within a rather striking exterior of tempered glass and brushed aluminum. The desk features a motorized height adjustment, with knobs on a small control panel on the right side of the desk that control both the height adjustment and the speed of the desk's 12 fans (six for intake, and six for exhaust duty). It also supports triple-slot radiators for augmented cooling capabilities.
