Scythe Launches Innovative New Fan - Grand Flex 120

Japanese CPU cooler and case fan expert Scythe proudly presents its new top-notch Grand Flex 120 mm fan series. These new axial fans surprise with the aggressive design and are set to be the successor of the incredibly successful S-FLEX series, taking it to the next level in terms of design and performance.

"Sealed Precision FDB" was newly developed from scratch as the core for its Grand Flex 120 mm series. This bearing is based on the "Fluid Dynamic Bearing" technology that has served Scythe well for several popular high-end series in the past and is now being used as a very solid and reliable foundation for the new design. Scythe's Fluid Dynamic Bearing utilizes lubricantoil between the shaft and the bearing, resulting in excellent lubrication and silent operation. The used high-grade lubricant oil can withstand high temperatures of up to 250 degree Celsius, and are additionally of special interest for industrial use. Grand Flex 120 case fans are made for long time silent operation and are rated with MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) of 120.000 hours (at 25 degree Celsius).

Scythe Grand Flex 120 mm Fan Series Detailed

Japanese PC cooling expert Scythe unveiled its brand new high-performance PC fan series, the Grand Flex. The company started off with its 28 mm-thick 120 mm variants, among which are four fixed-speed variants, including the Grand Flex 800 RPM (SM1225GF12SL), 1,200 RPM (SM1225GF12L), 1,600 RPM (SM1225GF12M), and 2,000 RPM (SM1225GF12H). All four of these feature 3-pin connectors. Scythe also unveiled the Grand Flex PWM (SM1225GF12SH-P), which spins at 600 to 2,500 RPM, and features 4-pin PWM fan control.

The Grand Flex series feature a unique new impeller design that maximizes air-flow at the given speeds, resulting in good airflow-to-noise ratios. The 800 RPM variant pushes 30.5 CFM at 18 dBA noise output; the 1,200 RPM variant does 45.8 CFM at 23.5 dBA; the 1,600 RPM does 61.1 CFM at 28.5 dBA; and the 2,000 RPM variant pushes 76.6 CFM at 34.5 dBA. The Grand Flex PWM pushes 24.2 to 98.6 CFM, with a noise output ranging between 13.5 to 39.5 dBA. Its head features fluid-dynamic bearing, with a lubricant that can withstand temperatures as high as 250°C. Scythe didn't release pricing, but announced it would begin shipping these fans by July 3.

Sapphire Announces Radeon HD 7870 FleX with Dual-X Cooler

SAPPHIRE Technology has just announced the SAPPHIRE HD 7870 Flex Edition - only the second model in the highly acclaimed HD 7000 series of graphics cards based on the Graphics Core Next architecture from AMD to feature SAPPHIRE's unique solution to multi-screen graphics.

Most graphics cards based on AMD technology require the third monitor in an Eyefinity set-up to be a DisplayPort monitor, or connected with an active DisplayPort Adapter. The SAPPHIRE FleX family can support three DVI monitors in Eyefinity mode and deliver a true SLS (Single Large Surface) work area without the need for active adapters. The first two monitors are connected to the two DVI ports and the third to an HDMI to DVI cable (supplied) with no extra active hardware required. The DisplayPort outputs are still available for the connection of additional monitors - for example the recently announced SAPPHIRE HD 7950 FleX with its two DisplayPort outputs can support up to 5 screens in Eyefinity.

BitFenix Reaffirms SuperCharge Technology

Another innovation from the BitFenix Design Lab, BitFenix SuperCharge Technology offers a convenient and quick way to charge mobile devices right from your PC. Recently, similar solutions introduced by competitors have begun making their way into the market, sometimes with hazardous results. In fact, a recent case led to a wire catching on fire during normal operation. Today, BitFenix is reaffirming SuperCharge technology as a quick, easy and safe way to charge today's mobile devices.

Raptorfire Cronus Adapter Gives Your Gaming Platform Controller Flexibility

Raptorfire will feature their new gaming controller modification chips for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The chips, which are installed into existing hand-held controls for both systems, improve and enhance controller functionality and game play for the user. Many of the features provided by these chips include rapid fire, "drop shot", fast reload, and other popular modifications that are central to most first-person shooting games.

Streacom FC9 and FC10 Spec'd

Streacom's newest duo of silent all-aluminum cases for HTPCs, the micro-ATX FC9, and the ATX FC10, inch closer to their Computex 2012 launch. Their specifications were leaked by the company's Chinese website. Both cases ensure the machines running in them stay quiet, and remain completely fanless, because their bodies double up as heatsinks for sensitive components, such as the processor. Both cases are made of brushed silver and black (sandblast finish) color options.

Measuring 348 x 289 x 100 mm (WxDxH), the Streacom FC9 supports motherboards in the micro-ATX and mini-ITX form-factors. It features one 2.5-inch drive bay, and a 3.5-inch bay, which supports 2.5-inch drives. It also has a bay for a slimline slot-loading optical drive. A CPU base makes contact with the processor (LGA775, LGA1155, LGA1156 supported), which conveys heat to a side panel via four copper heat pipes. All six panels of the case are made of thick aluminum sheets, some of which are ridged to increase surface area for heat dissipation. The case features three low-profile expansion slots.

Sapphire Readies Radeon HD 7970 Cards with 1335 MHz Core Clock, 6 GB Memory

It looks like AMD's claims of HD 7970's extreme overclocking capabilities weren't the usual PR hoopla. A confidential company document revealing the non-reference models Sapphire has in the works, got leaked to the web, and it is a bundle of surprises. To begin with, Sapphire plans no less than six non-reference Radeon HD 7970 models apart from the vanilla AMD reference design card. Among these, the top-of-the-line cards are codenamed "Atomic RX" and "Atomic WC". One can guess that the "RX" is an air-cooled card, and the "WC" a water-cooled one. It packs blistering clock speeds of 1335 MHz core, with 5735 MHz (1433 MHz actual) memory.

The other card that caught our eyes is codenamed "FLEX 6G". The Flex variant typically features a flexible display output configuration. This card is said to have six mini-DP connectors. While this card sticks to AMD reference clock speeds, it packs a whopping 6144 MB of video memory, all wired to a single GPU. While 4 Gbit GDDR5 chips don't exist, we expect Sapphire to be using 24 * 2 Gbit chips on this card, with twelve sets of two chips sharing 32 bit paths. Then there are other milder factory overclocked cards apart from the Atomic; there's Toxic 3G, and VaporX 3G, both packing impressive out of the box clock speeds.

Sapphire provides Eyefinity on the cheap with the Radeon HD 6450 FleX

If all you want this Christmas is an Eyefinity setup but can't afford to invest much in a graphics card then you may be interested in Sapphire's latest creation, the Radeon HD 6450 FleX. This card comes with a sub-60 Euro price tag and is able to power three DVI monitors right out of the box.

Sapphire's HD 6450 FleX takes up two PCI slots, comes with a blue PCB and features a passive cooler, 160 Stream Processors, a GPU clock of 625 MHz, a 64-bit memory interface, 1GB of DDR3 memory set to 1600 MHz, UVD (Unified Video Decoder) 3, and three display outputs, a single-link DVI, a dual-link DVI, and a HDMI 1.4a port (a HDMI to DVI adapter is included in the box).

The Radeon HD 6450 FleX can be found on pre-order priced as low as 54.37 Euro.
