Samsung Electronics America today announced new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors debuting at CES 2024, the world's biggest tech event owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), in Las Vegas next week. The new OLED models deliver the performance and visual clarity gamers look for in their monitors, and include the Odyssey OLED G9 (Model Name: G95SD), Odyssey OLED G8 (Model Name: G80SD), and the Odyssey OLED G6 (Model Name: G60SD).

The Odyssey OLED G9 is a 49" curved ultra-wide gaming monitor with DQHD (5,120×1,440) resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio and other upgraded features. The Odyssey OLED G8 is the first flat 32-inch Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD (3,840×2,160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors have a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GTG response time. LG Electronics USA announced today pricing and availability of two new models to its LG UltraGear gaming monitor lineup - the 45-inch LG UltraGear GR75DC and the 45-inch LG UltraGear GR65DC. The GR65DC is available to purchase for $799.99 now at LG.com and LG-authorized retailers. Titan Army is a Chinese gaming monitor brand that's been making waves in Asia due to their incredible value for the features on offer. The company uses Fast IPS and curved VA panels to offer resolutions and refresh rates from a segment above, at a given price range. The brand is now making inroads to the US market, and is now available on Amazon. The company dipped its toes into the US market with three well priced monitor models.

At the top, is the B0CKVPB31C, a 32-inch curved 16:9 monitor with WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, 95% DCI-P3 coverage, 1500R curvature, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium Plus. All this, for $299. At the same price, the company is also selling the B0CKVL7KMZ, a 27-inch flatscreen monitor with the same WQHD resolution as its 32-inch curved sibling, but with faster 180 Hz refresh rate using a Fast IPS panel. For under $200, the company is selling the B0CKVL38N5, a 24-inch flatscreen with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, but with 100 Hz fresh rate using a Fast IPS panel. All three models are now available on Amazon, some regions could see a checkbox coupon that shaves $20 to $40 off.

LG is something of an expert when it comes to silently launching new monitors and although its latest additions to its UltraGear range of gaming monitors are only minor variants of already existing products, it appears that we're looking at a pair of more affordable models. The 27GR93U-B and 32GR93U-B as the new models are called, measure 27 and 32-inches respectively and both offer 4K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Comparing the 27GR93U-B to the 27GN950-B, the first really obvious difference is the use of a standard IPS panel instead of a Nano IPS panel and this leads to a slight reduction in the DCI-P3 colour gamut from 98 to 95 percent.

The new models are only certified for FreeSync Premium, rather than FreeSync Premium Pro, but that appears to be the only obvious reduction in gaming features, as G-Sync compatible support, VRR, Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, Crosshairs and the FPS counter are all present and accounted for. Both displays have two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and one upstreams and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports, as well as a 4-pole 3.5 mm jack for a headset. On the plus side, these new models have slightly lower power consumption, with a typical power consumption of about 50 W for the 27-inch model and 65 W for the 32-inch model. The stand still supports tilt, height and pivot adjustment. No official pricing was announced, but we found the 27-inch model listed in Hong Kong for the equivalent of around US$560, which is around US$200 less than what the 27GN950-B retails for.

LG has launched what appears to be something of a budget model in its UltraGear range of gaming monitors in the shape of the UltraGear 27GR75Q-B. What we're looking at is a 2560 x 1440 resolution display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, which not so long ago would've made this a premium product in the 1440p monitor segment. However, taking a closer look at the specifications, it's pretty clear that this is more of a budget model, as it only supports HDR10 and has a typical brightness of 300 nits and a minimum brightness of a mere 240 nits. You still get an IPS panel at least, although we're not sure how LG can claim it has a 1 ms grey to grey response time, as that's not something commonly found in IPS displays.

Other gaming features include FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible support and LG's various gaming features, such as black stabilizer, dynamic action sync and an OSD feature that allows you to add a crosshair. Connectivity consists of two HDMI ports which top out at 144 Hz and one DP 1.4 port that tops out at 165 Hz, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack. The monitor is at least fairly power efficient with a maximum power draw of 48 W and a typical power consumption of 45 W. The stand supports tilt, height and pivot adjustment. We found the UltraGear 27GR75Q-B listed for sale in Hong Kong for around US$250, confirming that this is indeed a more budget friendly option from LG.

Philips has revealed its debut model in the Evnia 5000 range of gaming monitors - 25M2N5200P. The Dutch electronics firm has already released a diverse lineup of premium screens for enthusiast gaming-types, but the relatively young games-oriented Evnia brand is now expanding into more mainstream territory with its 5000 series - the dark slate (gray-colored) chassis distinguishes this lineup from the more sophisticated offerings (usually finished in white). Philips is readying its new 25M2N5200P ultra fast gaming monitor for release in Europe next month, coming in at more budget conscious price of €299. This 24.5-inch sized mid-tier model is fitted with a snappy IPS panel rated for a maximum refresh rate of 280 Hz (in overclock mode).

Speedy gaming enthusiasts will be happy to learn that the FHD (1920 x 1080) Fast IPS-type panel accommodates a 0.5 ms MPRT response time. The 25M2N5200P appears to be quite a unique case when compared to equivalent competitors - AMD FreeSync Premium adaptive synchronization and motion blur reduction (MBR) can be enabled in parallel which provides the end user with a fast and smooth in-game experience, free of major image ghosting issues. Philips will be offering customers who prefer VA panel technologies an alternative model called the 25M2N3200W, set for release in European markets within the next few months.

MSI today introduced the G2712, a 27-inch planar gaming monitor with a fast IPS panel that offers 1 ms (MPRT) response time, 170 Hz refresh-rate, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium. The monitor offers Full HD (1080p) resolution with 170 Hz refresh-rate requiring the DisplayPort 1.2a connection. The only other connection is HDMI 1.4b, which limits the refresh-rate to 120 Hz. 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 1100:1 static contrast ratio make for the rest of the panel specs. You get a handful of gamer-friendly features, such as genre-specific display presets, though this monitor really is best suited for e-sports titles in the FPS or MOBA/RPG genres.

Gamers throughout the UK will be able to experience a new level of 4K gaming, with the launch of BenQ's first OLED Gaming Monitor, the MOBIUZ EX480UZ. This display is so quick, and ASUS set up a 144 Hz display next to it for comparison, and one could tell the difference. The monitor also features NVIDIA G-SYNC, and NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer, along with a USB 3.2 hub, so you can plug your Reflex-compatible gaming mouse to the monitor, and the monitor itself to an upstream USB 3.2 source, besides the DisplayPort connection. Another interesting aspect about this monitor is that ASUS has integrated a high-end USB audio DAC sourced from ESS, so you can plug your analog headset to the display and get audio quality on par with a high-end onboard audio solution, or even a mid-range discrete sound card.

Elsewhere across the ASUS ROG booth, we caught the ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQDM-OLED, the company's fastest gaming monitors to use an OLED panel. This 27-inch monitor offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with 0.03 ms response time, and 240 Hz refresh rate, besides 1,000 nits peak brightness, and 99% DCI-P3 coverage. The panel features an anti-glare micro-coating. OLED displays tend to produce more heat than backlit LCD displays, and so this monitor packs a series of thermal innovations to prolong the lifespan of the OLED panel. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium,

PC display and projection major BenQ showed off three of its latest Mobiuz gaming monitors at the 2023 International CES. The star-attraction was the Mobiuz EX480UZ, a large-format 48-inch gaming display with an OLED panel. This display provides 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution with blistering fast 0.1 ms (GTG) response-time, and covers 98% of DCI-P3 with delta ≤2. It uses HDMI 2.1 inputs, and includes a powerful internal speaker-set consisting of two 5 W front-channels, and 10 W woofer. The monitor supports AMD FreeSync Pro.

The Mobiuz EX270QM is a 27-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) monitor with a Fast-IPS panel that offers 240 Hz refresh rate, with 1 ms (GTG) response time, and 98% of DCI-P3 coverage, along with DisplayHDR 600 support. It uses a full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 input and supports AMD FreeSync Pro. Lastly, there's the Mobiuz EX270M, which is the same 27-inch size, but with lower Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the same 240 Hz refresh-rate and 1 ms response time, but with 99% sRGB coverage and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. This monitor packs a 2.1 speaker setup with 2.5 W front-channel speakers, and a 5 W subwoofer.

The UltraGear 45GR95QE-B as it's known as, is a 45-inch ultra wide monitor with a 3440 x 1440 pixel resolution, giving it an aspect ratio of 21:9. As with the 27-inch 27GR95QE-B, we're looking at a 240 Hz refresh rate here and the same 0.03 ms GtG response time and the ability to display up to 1.07 billion colours. However, this is where the similarities end, as the 45GR95QE-B's massive panel means that LG made it a curved display and it's very curved at 800R. Despite its enormous size, it has a pixel pitch of a mere 84 PPI, which is very low, especially as a normal pixel pitch for a 3440 x 1440 display is somewhere around 110 PPI on a 34-inch display, which places this closer to a 27-inch 1080p display.

The monitor has two HDMI and one DP input, as well as one upstreams and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports. It also has an S/PDIF out, a headphone jack with DTS HP:X support and a barrel plug for an external 19.5 Volt power brick. LG doesn't provide a typical power consumption, but the power brick can deliver 210 Watts. It also comes with a remote, for changing the settings. Other features include VRR, FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible support. It also has the same gaming features as LG's other UltraGear monitors. The supplied stand supports tilt, height and swivel adjustments. For those considering this massive display, which measures almost a metre wide, make sure your desk can handle the weight, as it comes in at almost 11 kg. LG's asking price for this beast of a monitor isn't for those with a tight budget, as it's a rather steep US$1,699.99.
