NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS Rebranded to 9600 GSO

NVIDIA's lack of marketing for the 8800 GS meant that it didn't really catch on particularly well when it was first launched. However, the company is now planning to try and rectify this by rebranding it as the GeForce 9600 GSO according to Expreview. Assuming the current price remains more or less the same, this card should sell for a little below the 9600 GT and offers similar performance levels.

Featuring second Generation PureVideo HD, full DirectX 10 support, and PCI Express 2.0; the EVGA 8800GS is the perfect card for the gamer who wants big performance, without a big price. Main specs of the card include: 65nm GPU @ 550MHz Core, 384MB DDR3 @ 1.6GHz, 96 Stream Processors @ 1.375GHz. The e-Geforce 8800 GS will be available soon through all major EVGA partners and resellers.

XFX GeForce 8800GS 680M 384MB Alpha Dog Edition Spotted

Following ASUS's latest GeForce release the day before, new XFX graphics card has also been spotted. The XFX GeForce 8800GS 680M 384MB Alpha Dog Edition (PV-T88S-FDD4) uses self-designed black PCB and single slot cooling solution. The card is also factory overclocked to 680MHz/1600MHz(core/memory). Expreview reports that this product will hit the market in January 16th with suggested price of around 160 EURO or about USD $238.

NVIDIA is going to release yet another revision to its GeForce 8 family, the GeForce 8800GS 192-bit 384MB and 768MB. A quick look at the chart below will tell you the differences between the 192-bit 8800GS and other 8 series.
