Cougar Intros VM410 Gaming Headset with 53mm Drivers and Audiophile-grade Cables

Cougar today introduced the VM410, its flagship stereo gaming headset. The VM410 comes with a few segment-first features, including quite a few bits borrowed from audiophile-grade headphones. To begin with, its cans are suspended on a 3-axle metal joint that allows for horizontal and vertical adjustments. A silicone headband can be adjusted at the cans, while metal over-bands hold the two cans together structurally. The detachable microphone stock holds a large 9.7 mm unidirectional mic condenser.

As for the cans of the VM410, they pack meaty 53 mm neodymium drivers with graphene diaphragms, papylon mesh, and a cavernous back chamber. You get two sets of user-replaceable earcups, one with soft-touch leather, and the other with breathable polyester fabric. It doesn't end there. Cougar used audiophile-grade cabling to go with the headset, with each of the two cans having a triple-insulated copper cable running up to the plug. The headphones component offers sensitivity of up to 116 dB at 1 kHz, 32 Ω impedance, and 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The mic is -113 dB sensitive at 1 kHz, with the same 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response as the headphones, and <2 kΩ impedance. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Facebook Technologies Stops Sales of Oculus VR Headset in Germany

Facebook Technologies, a subsidiary of Facebook Inc. and owner of Oculus, has today "temporarily" suspended sales of Oculus VR headsets in Germany. The news is coming today after Oculus announced that all of the new Oculus accounts have to move to the Facebook login system before January 1, 2023, when all of the current Oculus accounts will be suspended. The German data protection law is extremely suspicious of Facebook's behavior and how they handle user data in general, so Oculus has potentially decided to stop the sales to avoid any possible antitrust regulations from the German government. The exact reason is unknown, and it is yet to be revealed, however, the suspicions laid out here may be part of the reason.

Turtle Beach Launching Updated Gen 2 Versions of The Stealth 600, Stealth 700 Headsets

Turtle Beach is launching updated Gen 2 versions of their Stealth 600 and Stealth 700 headsets. Like the previous iteration, these will be available in console-specific designs (with design language and connection types paired specifically for Xbox or PlayStation systems). The Stealth 600 will also be available in a simple white version for a more neutral approach to gaming. Connection-wise, the PlayStation version connects via a specific USB wireless adapter; the Xbox version connects directly to console or PC via Microsoft's proprietary connection and wireless receiver kit.

The headsets see a redesigned mic and button layout; the mic now completely recedes into the outside of the ear cup, as if it were a perfect jigsaw fit. The controls, instead of being disperse, are now neatly lined up around the outer edge of the left ear cup, and the Micro-USB charging port is now a USB-C one. Sound hardware wise both headsets are identical; the Stealth 700 justifies a higher price-tag through the usage of an all-black design with plush, leather-like ear pads. it also offers the ability to connect to devices via Bluetooth in addition to the actual game source, so users can listen to more than just in-game audio while playing. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 will cost $99.99 (the PlayStation version is already available, with the Xbox one being releases come September 20th.
