Last week at Cisco Live in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., unveiled the world's first zero client monitor using Cisco Universal Power Over Ethernet (UPOE) technology, heralding a new era of virtual desktops that will help businesses conserve energy and reduce cost and complexity. Japanese display major iiyama released the new ProLite B2008HDS 20-inch monitor in Europe. This LED-backlit LCD display features a 16:9 aspect ratio with a native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. With a response time of 2 ms, it's geared for gaming. Other vital stats include 250 cd/m² of brightness, 1,000:1 static, and 30,000:1 average contrast ratio or ACR (iiyama is modest with this stat). Display inputs include DVI and D-Sub. Its stand allows 90º pivot, tilt and height adjustments by up to 10 cm. The monitor includes 1W internal stereo speakers. Backed by 3 year warranty, the iiyama ProLite B2008HDS is priced at €129.

Acer unveiled its latest Aspire One netbook, the AAO Happy 2. Priced at the lower-end of the spectrum at 299 Euro, the AAO Happy 2 is an entry-level 10.1-inch netbook with conventional AAO styling, including the water-drop graphic. It is available in a variety of lid colors, including Banana Cream, Blueberry Shake, Papaya Milk, Strawberry Yogurt, as Acer puts them. It is driven by Intel Atom N570 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.66 GHz, DDR3 667 MHz, 8.5 W), or N455/N475 (512 KB L2 cache, 1.66/1.83 GHz, DDR3 667 MHz, 6.5 W) processor, with 1 GB or 2 GB of single-channel DDR3 memory.

The 10.1-inch screen provides resolution of 1024x600 pixels, and is LED-backlit illuminated. Storage is care of a 250 or 320 GB HDD, and a multi-format card reader. Connectivity is care of WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0+, and optional 3.5G HSDPA. A VGA webcam, and 6-cell 48 Wh 4400 mAh battery top up the list. The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 netbook starts at 299 Euro.

NZXT released colorful new additions to its FS Silent Fan Series, the FS-200 LED. Available in red, green, and blue, these LED-lit variants of the famous round-framed 200 mm fan bear the same exact specifications as the original. The fans come with switches (compatible with NZXT Phantom LED switch) that can toggle the LEDs on/off, so you can still have a colorful fan if you find its lighting too gaudy for your case.

Japanese display maker Mitsubishi released its latest addition to the DiamondCrysta series, the RDT233WX-3D. This 23-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor with stereoscopic 3D capabilities uses an in-plane switching (IPS) panel that can provide 178°/178° viewing angles. With full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080), the panel features response time of 3.8 ms (GTG), a honest-sounding 5,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1,000:1 static contrast), and its display inputs include HDMI 1.4, DVI, and D-Sub.

The Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-3D features stereo 3D support, and bundles a pair of 3D glasses; Giga Clear II image enhancement engine that adjusts various image parameters dynamically to give out the best image quality; and PIP (picture-in-picture) function. 2W stereo speakers are embedded. Its stand is designed to allow height and tilt adjustments. Slated for release by the end of May, the Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-3D is expected to be priced at 52,800 JPY (US $645).
