GELID Launches SlimHero Silent Low-Profile CPU Cooler

Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions unveils the SlimHero which is a low profile CPU Cooler of its SILENT product line. The SlimHero features 4 sintered power heatpipes with a silent and slim 120 mm fan. The copper heatpipes ensure maximum heat transfer from CPU to the aluminum fins. The heatsink is built in a unique shape to lower the air flow resistance. The cooler can be mounted on each directions of the AMD socket.

The low profile cooler SlimHero is especially designed for compact PC cases where space can be the key problem. With a total height of 5.9 cm this cooler can fit almost all smaller cases and is able to cool up to 136W (TDP).

MSI Intros Low-Profile GeForce GT 640 Graphics Card with Three Display Outputs

MSI announced a new low-profile, single slot graphics card based on the GeForce GT 640 (model: N640GT-MD2GD3/LP). The card gives users the advantage of support for 3-display 3DVision Surround, for productivity. It packs 2 GB of DDR3 memory across a 128-bit wide interface, to aid with smooth display on those three monitors. It ships with 900 MHz core, and 1792 MHz memory (DDR). Display outputs include one each of dual-link DVI, HDMI, and D-Sub. Based on the 28 nm GK107 silicon, the GeForce GT 640 packs 384 CUDA cores. The new card is expected to be priced around US $90.

Thermolab Intros LP53 Low-Profile CPU Cooler

Korean PC cooling components maker Thermolab introduced LP53, a new low-profile CPU cooler. Measuring 100 x 94 x 53 mm (WxDxH), and weighing 410 g (owing to its material), the cooler is made of a dense copper fin stack that is arranged along the plane of the motherboard, to which heat drawn from a copper CPU base is conveyed by two 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes. The heatsink is ventilated by a 92 mm PWM-controlled fan, which spins at 1,000~2,000 RPM, with 16~27.1 dBA noise output. The cooler supports Intel LGA115x mount hole spacing, which makes it fit for LGA1156, LGA1155, and future LGA1150 socket types. It is priced around US $50.

HIS Announces Low-Profile Radeon HD 7750 iCooler Graphics Card

HIS announced the Radeon HD 7750 iCooler low-profile graphics card. The card is designed to provide mid-range DirectX 11 performance to slim form-factor (SFF) PCs, and HTPCs. The card is designed with a half-height PCB, but its active air cooler spans across two expansion slots in your system. To keep its temperatures in check, HIS opted for the older AMD reference GPU clock speed of 800 MHz. AMD recently updated that to 900 MHz. The memory is clocked at 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5-effective).

The cooler uses a monolithic aluminum heatsink which cools the GPU, VRM, and memory chips on the obverse side of the PCB. The heatsink is ventilated by two 40 mm fans. HIS claims that the cooling solution has its noise output under 28 dBA. Display connectors include dual-link DVI, HDMI 1.4a, and D-Sub. HIS includes low-profile brackets with the card.

PowerColor Launches its Single Slot Low-Profile Radeon HD 7750 Graphics Card

PowerColor launched the world's first single-slot + low-profile graphics card based on the Radeon HD 7750, the PowerColor HD 7750 LP. The card relies on a compact air-cooler, which uses a dense hive of aluminum fins, ventilated by a 40 mm lateral-flow fan to cool the 1.5 billion transistor GPU. The card draws power from the PCI-Express slot, and uses high-grade VRM components (such as CPL-made chokes, LFPAK MOSFETs, etc.,) to condition power at minimal board footprint.

The card doesn't compromise on clock speeds, and ships with 800 MHz GPU and 1125 MHz (4.50 GHz GDDR5 effective) memory clock speeds. Built on the 28 nm "Cape Verde" silicon, the Radeon HD 7750 packs 512 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, 32 TMUs, 16 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 1 GB of memory. The display connectors on PowerColor's card include one each of dual-link DVI, HDMI 1.4a, and D-Sub (detachable). The card's accessories include a low-profile bracket. PowerColor did not reveal pricing.

Sapphire Squeezes Radeon HD 7750 Down to Single-Slot Low-Profile

What you might pass away for a bare entry-level graphics card at first glance, could end up being Sapphire's new Radeon HD 7750 single-slot low-profile graphics card. The design is a beneficiary of 28 nm "Cape Verde" silicon, which is found to have good-enough temperatures on its reference-design board. The card is ideal for mini-ITX systems. It relies entirely on the PCI-Express slot for power, and uses a 2+1+1 phase VRM, which utilizes high-grade driver-MOSFETs on its GPU phases.

Noctua Presents the NH-L12 Low-Profile CPU Cooler

Noctua today presented its new NH-L12 low-profile cooler for Small Form Factor cases and HTPC environments. The NH-L12 features a flexible NF-F12 (120 mm) / NF-B9 (92 mm) dual PWM fan setup that can be configured either for full performance in dual fan mode or extra-low profile (66 mm) with the top fan removed.

"The industry trend towards Small Form Factor and Home Theatre PCs is well-established, but there's still a lack of suitable high-quality quiet CPU coolers", explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. Noctua Displays New Compact, Low-Profile CPU Cooler Prototype

Noctua displayed a new low-profile, top-flow CPU cooler prototype, that's capable of low-profile mode with a height of just 66 mm, making it fit for certain slim form-factor ITX cases. The prototype uses a C-type top-flow heatsink, similar to the NH-C14, only much smaller, and thinner. It uses four heat-pipes to convey heat to a dense aluminum fin array. Unlike on the NH-C14, this prototype uses a dual-fan design in which the bottom fan is smaller. While the top-fan is a 120 mm Focused Airflow, while the bottom fan is a 92 mm NF-B9. The cooler can be run in dual-fan mode with both fans installed (cooler height will be 91 mm), or single-fan low-profile mode with the top fan removed (cooler height of 66 mm). A "high-clearance mode" with the bottom fan removed also looks possible.

Scythe Announces Kozuti Top-Flow Low-Profile CPU Cooler

The Japanese manufacturer Scythe Co. Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) officially announces the availability of new low profile Top-Flow CPU Cooler Kozuti. Unlike regular coolers, the fan is positioned below the fins, reducing the total height of the cooler significantly.

The Kozuti CPU Cooler is equipped with a total of three 6mm heat pipes. Point of View Intros its Low-Profile GeForce GT 430 Graphics Card

Point of View kicked of its GeForce GT 430 lineup with a custom-design graphics card. The card sticks to NVIDIA's reference design as far as the PCB goes, but uses a [seemingly] more cost-effective GPU cooling solution. The card is low-profile, and makes extra-room for a D-Sub connector with its full-height bracket on. Other connectors include DVI and HDMI. Like every other GeForce GT 430, Point of View's card is based on the 40 nm GF108 GPU, it is DirectX 11 compliant, and has 96 CUDA cores, a 128-bit wide DDR3 memory interface holding 1 GB of memory, and clock speeds that stick to NVIDIA's reference speeds: 700/1400/1600 MHz (core/shader/memory). A slightly faster variant based on the same exact design is also available, it just has the memory clocked 200 MHz higher. Expect standard pricing for this card.

Gainward GTS 450 GOOD Low-Profile Card Pictured, Taken Apart

Palit's subsidiary Gainward has a low-profile GeForce GTS 450 graphics card in the making, much like Palit's card. Both these are yet to ship to major markets. In the mean time, Korean website Brainbox.com did a picture preview of Gainward's card, called GTS 450 GOOD Low-Profile. The pictures reveal a neatly-designed PCB and cooler assembly modeled along the lines of high-end graphics cards in which hot air is directed right out of the case. The assembly includes a blower, a shroud that directs air-flow, a large heatsink with densely packed aluminum fins that channel air through, and a heatsink over the MOSFETs.

The PCB seats the GF106 GPU right in the middle. While it looks long, it's only because the PCB is half-height to give that illusion. In reality the PCB is 7.4" long, not longer than the full-height NVIDIA reference PCB, and should fit in most SFF cases that have two expansion slots. The PCB uses a simple 4-phase VRM driven by an ON-Semi controller, there are four GDDR5 memory chips on either sides of the PCB, totaling 1 GB. The clock speeds stick to NVIDIA reference: 783/1566/900(3600) MHz, display outputs include and are limited to one DVI and an HDMI. Power is drawn in from one 6-pin PCI-E power connector facing downwards à la Radeon HD 4870 X2. Gainward's card may charge a slight premium over the full-height cards, for the convenience it offers.
