XPG, a fast-growing provider of systems, components, and peripherals for Gamers, Esports Pros, and Tech Enthusiasts, today announces that it will launch its new DDR5 gaming memory modules in Q3 2021. The new product series will be known as the CASTER series. The modules will deliever frequencies ranging from 6000 to 7400 MHz and come with capacities of 8, 16, or 32 GB. XPG has been working closely with its motherboard partners, including GIGABYTE, MSI, ASUS, and ASRock, to ensure the highest level of compatibility and ability to realize extreme overclocking performance.

The new DDR5 modules will come in two variants, with and without RGB. Despite this difference, they share a cohesive industrial design. The products' designs convey an understated sense of depth and textural contrast with the use of two surface treatments, one glossy and one matte. For added depth, the matte surface of the modules are beveled for an additional textural element and futuristic look. To communicate the XPG brand, the modules sport diagonal intersecting lines and grooves that form geometric forms and X shapes that play off the XPG brand name and visual identity.

Here are some of the first press-shots of the upcoming MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X and MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Ventus 3X graphics cards. Boxes of the cards confirm 8 GB GDDR6X as the memory configuration of the RTX 3070 Ti. Taking a close look at the press-shot of the RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X, and comparing it with those of the already-launched RTX 3070 SUPRIM X and RTX 3080 SUPRIM X, we find that the card looks closer to the RTX 3070 SUPRIM X. This would indicate that MSI is reusing the PCB and cooler design from that card, which means that the RTX 3070 Ti likely maxes out the GA104 silicon, rather than being a heavily cut-down GA102.

A maxed out GA104 would mean 6,144 CUDA cores spread across 48 streaming multiprocessors, 192 tensor cores, 48 RT cores, 192 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. The chip also features a 256-bit wide memory interface, which we now know is capable of handling fast GDDR6X memory. Besides significantly increased memory bandwidth, the RTX 3070 Ti could also dial up GPU clock-speeds. NVIDIA probably finds these changes sufficient to compete with the Radeon RX 6800, which outclasses the RTX 3070 in non-raytraced gaming.

The marketing slides for MSI's upcoming SUPRIM series feature the unreleased RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards which are set to be announced by NVIDIA later this month. The slides confirm that the RTX 3080 Ti will include 12 GB memory while the RTX 3070 Ti will include 8 GB memory and that both cards will feature the same PCB design as their non-Ti variants. MSI is planning to release two RTX 3080 Ti model with the RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM 12G and the RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X 12G which was recently found for sale at a computer store in the UAE for 3500 USD. MSI also plans to release two variants of the RTX 3070 Ti with the RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM 8G and RTX 3070 Ti SUPRIM X 8G, we are still unsure about the specific variants between the versions but we expect to be a similar boost clock increase as found on existing SUPRIM X models.

MSI is informing the public of a malicious software being disguised as the official MSI Afterburner software. The malicious software is being unlawfully hosted on a suspicious website impersonating as MSI's official website with the domain name https://afterburner-msi.space. MSI has no relation with this website or the aforementioned domain.

The fraudulent website imitates MSI's official webpage appearance and design, and offers downloads for MSI's Afterburner. This webpage is hosting software which may contain virus, trojan, keylogger, or other type of malicious program that have been disguised to look like MSI Afterburner. The Public is warned not to download any software from this website!Update May 14th: TechPowerUp Forums member silentbogo detected the host and CDN behind the malicious Afterburner app, and reported it to them. In response to these reports, the CDN, Hipolink, has deleted the accounts responsible for this, while the host, timeweb.ru, said that they are investigating this. Our Kudos to silentbogo.

MSI today rolled out the Optix AG321CR, a curved 31.5-inch gaming monitor. Its VA panel features 1500R curvature, and conventional 16:9 aspect-ratio, with WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) native resolution. Its other gamer-relevant specs include 1 ms (MPRT) response time, 165 Hz refresh rate, 10-bpc color (1.07 billion colors), 178°/178° viewing angles, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium technology. Other panel specs include 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 3,000:1 static contrast ratio. Its stand allows height, tilt, and 30° of pivot. A USB 2.0 hub, and an RGB ornament behind the panel, make for the rest of it. The company didn't reveal pricing.

NVIDIA is expected to officially announce the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti on May 31st with a launch later in June. The RTX 3080 Ti will feature the GA102-225 GPU with 10240 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory. MSI temporarily added an RTX 3080 Ti filter to their graphics card viewer before shortly removing it once it had been discovered. This isn't the first RTX 3080 Ti leak we have seen from MSI with the companies flagship RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X graphics card recently being spotted at a PC store in the UAE for 3500 USD.

MSI has recently announced two new CMP (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor) 30HX MINER Series cards the MSI CMP 30HX MINER, and MSI CMP 30HX MINER XS. These new cards borrow the coolers from the ARMOR series and VENTUS XS respectively, MSI is one of the first manufacturers to offer multiple versions of a CMP card so it will be interesting to see the differences in performance and pricing given the two cards feature identical specifications. The two cards both feature the TU116-100 GPU with 1408 cores and a base clock of 1530 MHz along with a boost clock of 1785 MHz and 6 GB GDDR6 memory. The cards also lack any display outputs as per all CMP cards and pricing or availability information is not available.

The X570S is a new motherboard series from AMD which offers fanless chipset cooling for silent operations. The new motherboard series features an optimized chipset with power-saving features to achieve the fanless design. While there are currently a few passive X570 boards they come at a high price so these new X570S boards will be a welcome addition. MSI is reportedly planning to release eight new X570S motherboards to replace their high-end and mainstream X570 offerings. The MSI X570S Carbon appears to be a complete redesign rather than a chipset swap with larger heatsinks, increased SATA ports, and various other improvements.

A pair of retail boxes of the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti SUPRIM X graphics card was spotted at a brick-and-mortar PC parts store in the UAE. The front face of the retail box reveals a board design that's identical to the RTX 3090 SUPRIM X, including its triple PCIe power input configuration, a trio of TorX 3.0 fans, and the metal alloy cooler shroud. The box has clear markings of "RTX 3080 Ti" in the branding corner. According to FaisalKhatib, the Reddit user who took this picture, the card was available to purchase for the equivalent of USD $3,500. You can go ahead and figure out a way to buy it, but the card is a paperweight without a driver.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is rumored to be slotted between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090, to help NVIDIA better compete with the Radeon RX 6900 XT. It maxes out the 384-bit wide GDDR6X memory interface of the "GA102" silicon, but with 12 GB of memory, as opposed to 24 GB on the RTX 3090. It's also rumored to be closer to the RTX 3090 in CUDA core count—10,240 of them—than the RTX 3080.

The world record for highest frequency was set by the MSI OC Team in Taiwan using a HyperX 4600 MHz Predator DDR4 8G module (part number: HX446C19PB3K2/16) on an MSI MEG Z590 UNIFY-X motherboard using an 11th Gen Intel Core i9-11900KF @ 3.50 GHz CPU. In what is more proof that a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti launch is around the corner, cartons marked "GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 3X 12G OC" were spotted on their way to distribution centers in the US, according to a photo leak by "Lok LOK" on Facebook, who reveals several pictures of such cartons with their shipping labels intact. The lot also included several other graphics cards, including the GT 710 and RX 580.

The Ventus 3X OC represents MSI's value-ended custom-design graphics cards based on a given GPU, while the top-end is covered by the Gaming and SUPRIM series. This leak reinforces the theory that the RTX 3080 Ti will max out the 384-bit GDDR6X interface of the GA102 silicon, arming it with 12 GB of memory—2 GB more than the RTX 3080, but half that of the RTX 3090. This SKU is expected to be NVIDIA's response to the Radeon RX 6900 XT. AMD, meanwhile, is getting its partners to release higher clocked versions of the RX 6900 XT based on the new "XTXH" variant of the Navi 21 silicon.

MSI has announced another entry into their Optix MAG monitor lineup. The MAG342CQ makes use of a big, 34" VA panel with UWQHD resolution (3440 x 1440) that offers up appealing specs for a gamer: 144 Hz refresh rate paired with a (rated) 1 ms response time and a comfortable, not too aggressive 1500R curvature. The inclusion of Adaptive Sync (which means support for variable refresh rate technologies) helps add to its gaming pedigree.

Brightness however takes quite a dive o this particular panel, as its typical luminance apparently sits at a mere 250 nits. Despite that, the VA panel enables a contrast ratio of 3000:1, with good color coverage (DCI-P3 89.48% / sRGB 112.2%). I/O is assured by 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 1x earphone jack x1. No time to market or MSRP was available at time of writing.

At a media event in China, MSI unveiled a handful new products it hasn't yet launched globally. These include the ATX MEG Z590 Unify series, and the new Spatium line of high-end M.2 NVMe SSDs. The company already launched the MEG Z590I Unify Mini-ITX motherboard, which will soon be joined by the larger MEG Z590 Unify and the MEG Z590 Unify-X, in the standard ATX form-factor. Both these Unify motherboards are targeted at professional overclockers, and are armed with powerful 16+2 phase CPU VRM solutions that use 90 A DrMOS, 8-layer PCBs, a trio of PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slots (possibly using PCIe segmentation of the x16 PEG slot); and the company's latest Audio Boost 5 onboard audio solution.

What sets the MEG Z590 Unify apart from the Unify-X is that the latter features just two DDR4 DIMM slots, or one DIMM per memory channel. This is the most desirable topology for memory overclocking (and a reason why memory OC records are usually set on Mini-ITX motherboards). Next up, the company unveiled the Spatium series of high-end M.2 NVMe SSDs. Available with a number of heatsink (options?), these drives take advantage of PCI-Express 4.0 x4 host interface, and come in capacities of up to 4 TB. They use 3D TLC NAND flash, and offer sequential transfer rates of up to 7000 MB/s reads, with up to 6900 MB/s writes.

MSI announced a gaming desktop equipped with Intel 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S processor. The 11th generation Intel Core processor adopts Cypress Cove's new architecture, which changes hardware and software efficiency and improves their performance. This allows users to achieve the perfect balance between gaming and productivity. The graphics card comes with NVIDIA RTX 3090 specifications, allowing players to enjoy the most extreme gaming experience. MSI launched a total of five models this time, from the flagship Aegis Series to the eSport Gaming Infinite Series, as well as the compact-sized Trident Series, to meet the hardware needs of different players.

MSI is planning to raise prices of its graphics cards, according to a DigiTimes report, according to company chair Joseph Hsu, speaking at an investors conference on Tuesday. MSI has added another pair of graphics cards to its RTX 30-series staple. After introducing a new pinnacle-tier brand in the form of the SUPRIM X, which packs what best engineering MSI's engineers can muster, the company has now launched SUPRIM SE versions of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 graphics cards. The difference is in the details: mainly, in the factory overclock and TDP. While the SUPRIM X cards feature MSI's highest TDP (280 W) and clocks (1920 MHz), the SUPRIM SE are much milder in those respects (240 W and 1785 MHz, respectively), while keeping MSI's SUPRIM cooler and power delivery design.

The lower clockspeeds probably signal slightly lower quality silicon than the one that goes into the SUPRIM X cards, but that also means lower pricing for essentially the same card. And who knows, you might be chosen by the silicon lottery should you choose this model's better-engineered innards compared to other MSI cards. Apparently, the cards are only available in some regional MSI websites, which may mean slow rollout to other markets, or their absence from their entirely.

Excitingly, Intel's latest CPU the 11th Gen Intel Core Processors will arrive on PST time March 30th (CES time March 30th / TW time March 30th). These new processors feature higher performance as well as support PCIe 4.0 solution, and going with the latest MSI 500 Series motherboards, Intel's new processors will definitely present the best experience for both gamers and creators.

The 11th Gen Intel Core Processors include i9, i7 and i5 with K and non-K Series. With Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, the Core i9-11900K frequency is up to 5.00 GHz and the Core i7-11700K frequency is 5.00 GHz. As for memory speed, DDR4 on new Intel platforms raises to 3200 MHz. It is conceivable that new Intel core processors have more stable and effective performance, and it is worth the wait.

Some of you may have noticed I recently covered a Kickstarter keyboard, the Marsback M1, and there's another one just round the corner too. While looking at the Kickstarter link for more details, I went down a rabbit hole and found some fantastically bizarre items that maybe are worth a short series on. First up, and from MSI themselves, is the Liberator! What it liberates you from, or at least aims to do so, is the use of a keyboard+mouse combination for directional movement by instead offering foot controls in the form of a pedal. The tech in itself is not new, with several ergonomic designs come out over the years for those physically challenged or even just wanting to make better use of legs and improving circulation while sitting down for hours. This take, however, is my first introduction to a gaming foot pedal, because why not slap gaming on everything in addition to the mandatory RGB lighting?

MSI has been quiet about the Liberator, despite a supposed debut of March 16 (today!). There is a dedicated Facebook page for the product which is chock-full of hilarious marketing that you need to use, albeit in Mandarin, and Google Translate does not do it much justice either. This in turn leads to the Typeform page which, again in Mandarin, walks you through some of the salient features including three large pads with Omron-branded switches, game/macro compatibility with some AAA games including the Far Cry series in addition to some racing games, and localized pricing information that leads us to believe this will be a relatively expensive product (~$100 discounted on the crowdfunding platform, ~$140 otherwise) with the usual caveat of how directly converting foreign currency prices is best for an estimate only. MSI recently published an official blog article advertising the cryptocurrency mining potential of their GE76 raider laptop with a mobile RTX 3080 graphics card. The official post appears to have now been removed but has been archived by the Wayback Machine. MSI acknowledges the shortage of graphics cards and proposes that miners look at purchasing their new laptops. MSI shows the earnings potential of their GE76 raider laptop running NiceHash on the Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. The mobile RTX-3080 achieved a hash rate of 52.8 MH/s running the Excavator miner with the DaggerHashimoto algorithm. This performance is slightly above the RTX 2080 Ti but falls significantly short of a desktop RTX 3080 which achieves nearly double at 95.7 MH/s. MSI also noted that they would be publishing a follow-up post with their profitability statistics however this now seems unlikely given that the original post appears to have been taken down.
