MSI rolled out the Immerse GH30 V2 gaming headset, a new variant of the original Immerse GH30 the company debuted in 2019 (and which we reviewed here). The headset has a nearly-identical mechanical design to the original, with some visual changes such as the bright red Lucky motif being replaced by a piano black one in a matte black background; and unless MSI has changed the make of its components, the V2 has identical specs to the original. The headphones component uses 40 mm neodymium drivers with 96 dB sensitivity, 32 Ω impedance, 20 Hz to 20 kHz and frequency response. The mic component has a unidirectional pickup, -36 dB sensitivity, 2.2 k Ω impedance, and 100 Hz to 10 kHz frequency response. MSI confirmed that AMD's "Zen 3" processor support will be added to the company's AMD 400-series chipset motherboards, including the non-MAX SKUs that only have 16 MB EEPROM chips. Marketing Director Eric van Beurden in an MSI Insider video presentation confirmed that with the non-MAX motherboards, "Zen 3" support will be added as AMD planned to go about doing so (i.e. add "Zen 3" support by cutting out support for older processors and slimming down the UEFI setup program down to the GSE Click BIOS program, which may not correspond with your motherboard's original feature-set). On the other hand, the MAX SKUs, with their 32 MB EEPROMs will receive "Zen 3" support painlessly, meaning that the board may retain support for some, if not all, older processor generations, and retain their original feature-rich UEFI setup programs.

NVIDIA today reported revenue for the first quarter ended April 26, 2020, of $3.08 billion, up 39 percent from $2.22 billion a year earlier, and down 1 percent from $3.11 billion in the previous quarter. GAAP earnings per diluted share for the quarter were $1.47, up 130 percent from $0.64 a year ago, and down 4 percent from $1.53 in the previous quarter. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share were $1.80, up 105 percent from $0.88 a year earlier, and down 5 percent from $1.89 in the previous quarter.

Model names of 55 motherboards based on the AMD B550 chipset were leaked to the web by momomo_us. In an unexpected surprise, it turns out that ASRock will have the largest lineup of motherboards, with 15 models. ASRock's lineup will be led by a premium Taichi model (already pictured), but will also include a Phantom Gaming Velocita model, besides Extreme4 and Steel Legend. MSI has the second largest lineup, with 14 models. There's a surprise here.

We earlier thought the MPG B550 Gaming Carbon will lead MSI's lineup, but it turns out that there will be a MEG B550 Unify model at the top. The rest of the lineup includes MPG Gaming Edge, MAG Tomahawk, MAG Mortar, and MAG Bazooka. GIGABYTE has the third largest lineup, with 12 models. The series is led by an AORUS Master model. There are several other AORUS Gaming SKUs based on this chipset - PRO, Elite, and their Mini-ITX variants. ASUS plans to bring 11 SKUs to the table, including four ROG Strix series boards that include Strix-E, Strix-F, and the Mini-ITX Strix-I. There are also three TUF Gaming SKUs, while the rest of the lineup is made up of the vanilla Prime series. Biostar has two models, and so does SOYO. AMD is expected to launch its B550 chipset in mid-June.

MSI today announced two new diagonally-different additions to its monitor lineup. Under the Optix branding, the Optix G241 and G271 monitors both feature a 1080p IPS panel ticking at 144 Hz refresh rates. 1 ms response time is featured in both monitors, as is support for AMD's FreeSync. Where both panels differ is in the color space they're offering: the 27" G271 offers a slightly narrower 92% DCI-P3 coverage (94% on the G241). Viewing angles (178º), maximum brightness (250 cd m²) and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio are equal between both monitors.

I/O-wise, we're looking at 2x HDMI 1.4b, 1x DisplayPort 1.2a, and 1x audio out. The Optix G271 is available starting from a very interesting $239, while the G241 is available for $189.99.

MSI registered five new motherboard SKUs with the Eurasian Economic Commission, based on the AMD B550 chipset. The five new socket AM4 motherboards cover a wide range of sub-$200 (expected) price-points. The lineup is led by the MSI Performance Gaming (MPG) B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi, which was part of AMD's chipset reveal presentation; followed closely by the MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi, its Mini-ITX sibling, the MPG B550I Gaming Edge WiFi; the MSI Arsenal Gaming (MAG) B550M Mortar WiFi; and the B550M PRO-VDH in the entry-level. The lineup is missing a "MAG B550 Tomahawk," possibly because MSI wants to launch it later. The company launched its MAG X570 Tomahawk rather recently, and probably still has inventories of its popular B450 Tomahawk MAX motherboard launched with large 32 MB BIOS ROM chips. The Ryzen 3 3100 is turning out to be a fun little toy for enthusiasts. PC enthusiast TSAIK succeeded in overclocking it to 5923 MHz under extreme cooling. The chip was fed 1.45 Volts, and put under liquid nitrogen cooling, to achieve the feat. An MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk motherboard and a single stick of 8 GB memory underclocked to DDR4-1600 made the rest of the critical hardware. The feat is the second highest OC record for a "Zen 2" powered processor, next only to TSAIK's own speed record with the flagship Ryzen 9 3950X, which was pushed to 6041 MHz. MSI has announced that it is running an upgrade program for its Z490 motherboards. The program is valid for motherboards purchased from May 6th through June 15th. This program will essentially see you being rewarded with a Steam wallet code worth $50 should you purchase a new MSI Z490 motherboard to replace the old (or maybe just last-generation) motherboard you own from Intel. To this effect, MSI is requiring users to register their new motherboard online, take a picture of the boards' serial number, and upload another picture with your new motherboard and old one side by side - the ultimate shame towards your old, trusty piece of hardware.

The promotion applies to select MSI motherboards, with rewards being tiered according to the expense you had on the new MSI board. As such, users who acquired MSI's MEG Z490 GODLIKE or MEG Z490 ACE will be rewarded with $50 back. Users who purchased the cheapest Z490 motherboard, the MPG Z490
