TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.59.0 Released

TechPowerUp today released the latest version of the popular GPU-Z graphics sub-system information, monitoring, and diagnostic utility. Version 2.59.0 adds support for new GPUs, but also fixes a few important issues with the application. To begin with, support is added for the NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada and RTX 1000 Ada Laptop GPUs. An application launch error on Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems reading "unsigned driver cannot load" has been fixed.

The other issues resolved mainly concern the way PCI resizable BAR status is detected. On external GPUs, resizable BAR status was appearing as "enabled." This has been fixed. eGPUs lack resizable BAR support due to the limitations of USB interconnect. On notebooks with NVIDIA Optimus GPUs that support resizable BAR, the status was being reported as "disabled" when the discrete GPU is sleeping, which has been fixed. Lastly, instances where resizable BAR support is reporting as "Yes" instead of "enabled" or "disabled" has been fixed. Grab TechPowerUp GPU-Z from the link below.

NVIDIA Quietly Refreshes Mobile GeForce RTX Graphics Cards

NVIDIA has recently introduced its GeForce RTX 20-series SUPER mobile graphics cards, with the heap of new features that are present on the new GPU models. According to a report from ComputerBase, NVIDIA has refreshed few of the RTX 20-series mobile GPUs in addition to the previously announced SUPER models. Now there are a few models/variants of these RTX 20-series GPUs. Firstly, there is a standard RTX mobile GPU variant called the "Max-P" version - this represents the RTX 20-series GPUs that were launched initially in January of 2019 and it includes three SKUs like RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080. Secondly, there is a "Max-Q" revision of these graphics cards, meant to bring maximum efficiency. These SKUs are power-limited, so they are a bit slower compared to the regular "Max-P" version, and they have a Total Graphics Power (TGP) between 65 W and 90 W depending on the model.

Next up we have GeForce RTX SUPER 20-series of GPUs that were launched on April 2nd just a few days ago. These GPUs are special because they bring a heap of new features like more CUDA cores, low-power (1.25 V compared to the old 1.35 V) GDDR6 memory, DynamicBoost, and Optimus support. So what are these new, refresh GPUs? On ComputerBase Forums, XMG (laptop maker) representative has revealed that NVIDIA refreshed some of the older RTX 20-series mobile GPU that were already in use.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce RTX 20-series SUPER Mobile GPUs

NVIDIA today released the GeForce RTX 20-series SUPER mobile GPUs. The lineup consists of the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, RTX 2070 SUPER, and their Max-Q variants. Both SKUs have identical GPU core configurations to their desktop counterparts, with the RTX 2080 SUPER (mobile) featuring 3,072 CUDA cores, and the RTX 2070 SUPER (mobile) featuring 2,560. What sets them apart are clock speeds, aggressive power-management, and the introduction of new low-power GDDR6 memory chips that run at lower voltages. Unlike the desktop RTX 2080 SUPER, which uses 15.5 Gbps memory, the mobile versions use 14 Gbps ones.

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (mobile) ticks at 1560 MHz GPU Boost and 14 Gbps memory. Its power envelope is set at "150 W+." The RTX 2080 SUPER Max-Q is ticks at 1080 MHz, with an 80 W power envelope. The RTX 2070 SUPER (mobile) is clocked at 1380 MHz with 115 W power, while its Max-Q variant runs at 1150 MHz at 80 W. NVIDIA is introducing Dynamic Boost, its own power-balancer between the CPU and GPU, and Advanced Optimus, an improved version of its iGPU-dGPU switcher. NVIDIA is targeting these GPUs at high-resolution (1440p and above) gaming notebooks, particularly some of the newer ones that come with refresh-rates as high as 300 Hz. Notebooks with the new GPUs will go on sale starting April 15, 2020.
The slide deck follows.
