QNAP Enhances Download Station in QTS 4.2 and Ceases Support for QGet Utility

QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced that from the release of QTS 4.2, support for QGet utlity (for Windows, Mac and Linux OS) will be discontinued due to the improved Download Station in QTS 4.2 incorporating its features. After the release of QTS 4.2, QGet will no longer be supported, and maintenance and update services for QGet will also be discontinued.

QNAP Enhances Cloud Backup Services with its Upcoming Cloud Drive Sync

Due to the unexpected service suspension of the Dropbox Linux Client, users of QNAP Systems, Inc. NAS are now unable to activate Dropbox synchronization through the Dropbox Sync app. Users who have the Dropbox Sync app currently installed and are connected to their Dropbox account are unaffected, but if they log out of the app then their service will be suspended.

To continue providing users with convenient cloud sync services, QNAP will soon be releasing a new Cloud Drive Sync - Beta app to support file synchronization between QNAP NAS and Google Drive, Dropbox and more. The new Cloud Drive Sync - Beta app will be available from the QTS App Center for QNAP NAS with QTS 4.1 (or a newer version) installed.

QNAP Adds 4-bay Models to the High-performance TVS-x71U Turbo vNAS Series

QNAP Releases Qfix 1.0.1 to Path GNU Bash Vulnerability

QNAP Systems, Inc. today released the Qfix 1.0.1 patch for its Turbo NAS lineup to address the GNU Bash Environment Variable Command Injection Vulnerability (CVE-2014-6271, CVE-2014-7169, CVE-2014-6277, CVE-2014-6278, CVE-2014-7186, and CVE-2014-7187), also known as "Shellshock," that can allow attackers to gain remote control over UNIX/Linux-based systems.

QNAP has previously released QTS version 4.1.1 Build 0927 to resolve CVE-2014-6271 and CVE-2014-7169. With Qfix 1.0.1 more vulnerabilities including CVE-2014-6277, CVE-2014-6278, CVE-2014-7186, and CVE-2014-7187 are now resolved. Users are strongly urged to immediately install Qfix 1.0.1 on their Turbo NAS.

QNAP Ships 16GB Versions of TS-x70 Pro Series NAS

QNAP Releases QTS 4.1.1 Firmware Featuring Full NAS Encryption

QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced the availability of QTS 4.1.1, the new Turbo NAS firmware that features full NAS encryption by volume-based technology to greatly ensure data security in response to increasing cloud security challenges. As the fear of private data being leaked over the Internet is now a prime security concern, the protection provided by Network Attached Storage (NAS) has received great attention, especially for confidential business files and private photos/videos that require high security. However, the shared-folder-level encryption found in traditional NAS does not allow users to encrypt photos, music and videos stored in default shared folders, and therefore can lead to data being easily accessible if the NAS is stolen.
